Can you ovulate some months but not others

Hi everyone.

Just wanted some quick advice if possible. I am testing my ovulation monthly because I’m having NK Cells tested. Last month I started ovulation on day 12 and this month it’s day 13 and I still haven’t ovulated. I know it’s early but I’m just wondering about the following questions- is it possible that I won’t ovulate this month? Can you have some months where u ovulate and some where u dont? Any advice welcomed.

Thanks. X

I’m pretty sure the answer to your question is yes. Some of the others will hopefully be able to offer more information xx

Yes that's a possibility, hopefully its just too early for you. Keep testing, some of the girls found testing twice a day was helpful in case they missed the detection.xx

Yes I’ve been testing twice daily. Last month I ovulated on day 12. Today is day 13 and not ovulating. I didn’t know I don’t ovulate every month. I have a period every month so I assumed I did. Can the clinic treat this?

You would have to have this confirmed with your clinic, it may be that you're just not picking it up. You can certainly have a word with them and explain you fear....it may just be a one off!xx

Yes it can happen it’s happened to me. I had the same problem when I was waiting for my NK test too. I still had a period but it was a lot lighter in colour and flow. I can miss my LH surge on the sticks, I had to buy the clear blue ones in the end. I only used the ovulation sticks for the NK test I never use them other than this. The times I’ve been pregnant I never got a postive surge. You may have just missed your surge rather than not ovulate. Keep testing, I never got a positive on the clear blue until day 20!

I’ve been put on letrozole to help me ovulate. I’ve been pregnant on both times I’ve taken it but one was a chemical pregnancy and the other a miscarriage. You need to ask your Gp or clinic to do a day 21 progesterone blood test, they use this as a marker of ovulation and like to see a level above 30 xx

Hey hun. I've got PCOS and i do not ovulate every month. Sometimes i ovulate just before AF and other times it just doesn't happen. In my case I've got 3-4 month each year when i don't ovulate. Hope that's not your case and you get your ovulation soon. Xxx

And sometimes you still ovulate but the tests cannot pick up LH as is not high enough. Xx

I don't know whether I am the worst tester in the world - but those ovulation sticks never, ever worked for me. I POAS for over three months - never got an ovulation reading off one of them! However, there are other ways to know if you are ovulating - basal temp but also cervical mucus. The latter was always a massive giveaway for me - very striking differences! Hope that helps a little x

Hi there the answer is yes. And your ovulation day can change month to month. I ovulate anywhere between days 17 - 19 and my cycles are only 24 days long. The clear blue ovulation sticks are by far the easiest to use as all you're looking for is the 😊 xx

Hi everyone. Thanks for replying everyone. All your messages really helped. Despite having two fresh rounds of ivf and one frozen off I didn't know I don't ovulate every month. It felt like a huge shock and it really upset me. Much calmer now. Spoke to my clinic and read all your messages and now I understand that I have to keep testing and I may still ovulate. Also, if I dont ovulate the clinic can put me on medication etc. I just need to be calm and remember to breath! Thanks for teaching me something today. You guys are an amazing source of support and kindness. Xxx ❤💋
