We’ve been TTC for 12 years and on 8 Nov I got my first ever BFP! I had to lose 5 stone for NHS IVF, we had 2 attempts and paid for 1. Low ovarian reserve meant if just didn’t work for us. So, we had some time out and then my OH was diagnosed with cancer, totally out of the blue. He had a major op, fortunately no chemo, and we decided we had to keep trying. So, lost a bit of the weight I’d put on, and went to a clinic in Spain for tests to join a Pregnancy Guarantee programme. £2300 for the tests, and they accepted us on the programme for Embryo Adoption (up to 4 attempts and money back if it doesn’t work). The cost of the programme is a lot but probably less than we’d pay for up to 4 attempts here. First attempt in Sept failed (I was devestated!), went straight into second attempt, 5 day DET on 30 Oct, blood test on 8 Nov had HCG over 100. Now I’m 5wks 2d pregnant, and I can’t believe it. 12 f*ing years! I’m having a scan on 28 Nov at 6wk6d to check for a heartbeat and to see if there are 1 or 2. I’m freaking out, worried constantly, but also full of hope.
Infertility is crap, it’s horrible. I absolutely understand the nightmare everyone on here goes through. If things aren’t working for you, keep an open mind and consider other options - but maybe take some time out too. We’ve found that looking abroad has given us a slightly cheaper and a different option - one we wouldn’t have considered even 5 years ago.
Good luck everyone xxx
