Bleeding 5w pregnant : Hi all just a... - Fertility Network UK
Bleeding 5w pregnant
I’m so sorry it’s so frightening to see any type of bleeding in pregnancy.
It sounds like spotting to me which is very common during early pregnancy. Terrifying but common.
I have had spotting throughout this pregnancy- @6.5 weeks I had brown & pink, more brown spotting @8 weeks & fresh blood with clots @ 10 weeks 1 day.
I freaked out & contacted my midwife. She asked whether I had abdominal pain ( I didn’t) & if it was heavy like filling a pad every hour or more ( it wasn’t only there when I wiped) She said it was only if I had severe abdominal pain & heavy bleeding like gushing should it be a concern. But advised me to call my GP who could arrange a early scan at the early pregnancy unit to put my mind at rest.
I had my scan on Tuesday & everything was fine! Baby measuring well, good heartbeat & no obvious reason for bleeding.
I would phone your GP & they can arrange an early scan- you won’t be able to be scanned until 6 weeks . The scan will put your mind at ease.
Bed rest until the spotting stops & just take it very easy- that is what I am doing. xoxo
Although it is very scary to see any bleeding in pregnancy it really needn't mean the worst though I can imagine you are beside yourself with worry you could go to the early pregnancy unit to be checked though they won't see very much your positive test is a good sign wishing you all the best and hoping you have lots of support x
Hi
I can see how worrying this is
I haven’t experienced it personally but did have a friend who had this and it turned out that one embryo hadn’t developed - she bled quite heavily in the end for about two weeks.. anyway she has a six week old baby who was the other embryo who survived!
She went to the EPU and had scans which confirmed this so worth contacting them
It might not be this at all and just early pregnancy spotting but just wanted to give you a good news story!
Good luck x
I had a big bleed with clots at 6 weeks and I'm now over 19 weeks. We wonder whether it was me losing one of the embies.
I didn't have pain either and previously when I bed and miscarried at the same point I had lots of cramps.
Hope it all works out ok.
x
Oh this is horribly stressful for you. Just know that bleeding doesn’t necessarily mean the worst - lots of women bleed and go on to have healthy pregnancies. The scan at 6 weeks will give you a true picture... until then, try to distract yourself with doing some nice things. Nice food, movies & lots of cuddles. Hope it works out for you xx
I had a huge bright red bleed at 6 weeks and then continued to bleed for 3 weeks after that, plus I had horrid cramps that left me bed bound. I really thought it was all over, but it wasn’t!
It’s such a scary time but surprisingly very very common. Lots and lots of bed rest and anything and everything you can to take your mind of it xx
