This may seem random but I’ve convinced myself that I am damaging my embryo by lying on my tummy.
I naturally sleep on my front. Due to a bad shoulder I saw a chiropractor last year who told me to try and get out of the habit but that it would take at least 6 months to break the cycle as it’s been going on for 35 years!!! Long story short I haven’t broken the cycle yet!
Anyway last night I must’ve woken up about 15 times trying to reposition (plus going for wee breaks...so didn’t get much sleep!).
I’ve googled it and most places say it’s fine.
My booklet from the clinic doesn’t mention it and I know it would if there was a risk associated.
I guess I just need reassurance that I’m not damaging my chances (I’m 4dp5dt) or I’m not going mad!!! 🤦♀️🙈 xxx

Try not to worry about sleeping positions, your embryo is lovely and snug in there to sleeping on your front won’t do any harm. I think we’re all guilty of going a little mad in the tww, lots of luck x
That’s nice to hear that ‘it’s lovely and snug’. Phew!
You just get yourself all worked up and fearful don’t you, that you’ve been through so much to get to this point and then don’t want to blow it with something small! Xxx
Yeah you definitely do and I always think I never want to look back and think ‘what if’. That’s what’s so amazing about this forum, someone’s always got the answer or advice for any question xx
It’s totally fine so really try not to worry (I know it’s not possible to avoid worrying in the 2WW! 😂)
If you’re lucky enough to get a positive result though, might be worth getting used to sleeping on your side early on if it’s such a tough habit to break. Otherwise you might reach a point where you can’t lie on your tummy any more & then struggle to sleep. Wishing you all the best for a successful cycle x
I was told by the clinic just to get on with my life as I normally would - the only advice was to have a healthy diet, minimise stress,no heavy lifting or anything else that might strain the abdominal area. I think you’ll be absolutely fine to sleep on your front!
We do tend to worry - I found myself asking about wearing perfumed products and getting hair coloured - both of which I was reassured were fine! (I’ve read conflicting things on this).
I take reassurance from thinking that my little embryo is in there getting cozy - yours will be too 🤞🏼🙏🏻🤞🏼🙏🏻xx
I think in the later stages of pregnancy there is advice, but usually at this stage nothing is sticking out to get "sqaushed" so I wouldn't worry x
Front sleeper here 👋 slept that way during the 2ww and after I got my BFP until about 14 weeks where your growing bump will naturally slowly move you into a semi side/front then side position 😉 Kind of a natural sleep training, you might break that 35 year cycle then. Don’t worry about it and if you are lucky to get a BFP (fingers crossed!) then don’t stress then either, you will change and it actually wasn’t too bad/didn’t affect sleep much (you only need to sleep on your side from 28 weeks onwards) xxx
Lolol I was exactly the same after transfer, I slept on my side with my duvet kinda holding me up, if you know what I mean, as I love sleeping on my belly. Once I got to about your stage at 4dp5dt I gave up though and went back to sleeping on belly as I though implantation must have happened by then xxxxx
Hi everyone....thanks SO much for all the advice. It’s all greatly appreciated and I definitely feel so much better now. Hopefully I’ll be able to sleep tonight! Xxx
I think you’re fine. I slept on my stomach until about 23 weeks pregnant and the consultant told me baby would be fine. They have plenty of cushioning in there. The only sleep advice in pregnancy is to sleep ideally on your left side during third trimester and avoid sleeping on your back in third trimester. There’s no other evidence about hurting embryos/foetuses during sleep.
As the others have said, there are no restrictions to sleeping on your tummy until later on in pregnancy as you get bigger. At that point I switched to a pregnancy pillow to help get comfy as I didn’t find my side comfy either. If you are training yourself to sleep in a different position then left hand side is recommended in pregnancy so I’d try doing that. Back is a no no after about 20 weeks so avoid getting into the habit of that position. Good luck with your 2ww!
