Did your cycles get longer after fertility treatment?

Did anyone notice a change in their cycle length after all the meds? My cycles always used to be 25-29 days although I haven’t really kept track over the last couple of years while we’ve been doing iui. I have noticed that the first cycle after each iui has been longer but I’m now on day 32 of the second cycle after our last iui and just want to know what’s going on!

My husband is convinced I’m pregnant but I’ve been doing this long enough to know it’s probably another cruel trick my body is playing. We’re on holiday so I’m not going to take a test but my thoughts are going round and round relentlessly!

So, not really a question but let me know if you have any ideas/advice/experiences or if you just want to chat!

Now I’ve written this AF will probably arrive...

Hi. I hope you are having a lovely holiday. I don’t know if this will be any help. But my periods have been all over the place too. I finished my last iui a couple of months ago. Before any treatment my cycle was every 28 days. It was 30-31 days whilst having iui treatment and has continued to be like that since. I’ve been on clomid. I’m hoping it goes back to normal soon. But that’s me! And everyone is different.

I know it’s hard but try to enjoy your holiday! And maybe test when you are back xx

Good luck xx 😘

Hi Gem, did you take clinic for the iui? I didn’t really think about how long each iui cycle was because of all the injections etc I just followed the clinics timetable.

I am enjoying the holiday but I’m a bit worried about being struck down by crazy endo cramps when it does get started! I hate it being unpredictable! If it hasn’t started by the time we get back I’ll definitely test but after our mc in January I seem to dread that single line even more than before. This whole thing is so annoying!

Hi sorry do you mean clomid for the iui? Oh bless you. Yes I know what you mean. Being unpredictable gives you added stress when you really don’t need it. I can only begin to imagine how you feel about testing but I have my fingers crossed for you. It is very annoying. Nothings ever simple in this journey it seems. Let us know how you get on 😊 xx

It’s so annoying isn’t it? I’m used to it being so regular and predictable. I’ve rarely even taken a hpt because it always used to begin before I got the chance. Xx

I don’t know if this helps but I had a much shorter cycle the first period after IVF and then a longer one after that! Then it settled down again. I think the crux of it is that treatment and meds can affect your cycle. I think it’s normally in the short term but everyone is different. X
