So despite cancelling egg collection to try and avoid OHSS I’ve gone ahead and developed it anyway 😖 I’ve gained 4kilos which is all fluid in my tummy and my oestriadol today is 54000 😮 I am injecting heparin now I’m addition to increasing the buserelin and also taking a tablet (the name of which escapes me), the heparin burns like mad!
Has anyone got any tips for getting through this? I feel awful, so nauseous and bloated and sore. My tummy is so huge I look pregnant, oh the irony 🙄
Hi Limpie, I hope you’re feeling little better today, sending you positivity.
I am about to start on a fresh cycle and my consultant is changing up my protocol and drugs this time and also has put me on Metformin this time as well so has said I will be high risk for OHSS this cycle. They’ve said they will therefore monitor me very closely this cycle.
I’m sorry I don’t have advice / tips specifically for this but I just wanted to show my support.
Actually the metformin is making me very nauseous though so maybe a little similar and I am literally living on twinings ginger & lemon tea with some agave nectar in. The ginger settles my tummy and the agave gives me some natural sweetness for energy whilst I’m not really eating much/keeping it down.
Also peppermint tea helps to settle my stomach as well. Maybe worth a try??
Paracetamol, lots of fluids and rest. The heparin does burn but you can use some ice and apply some pressure afterwards but DONT rub it, it will bruise. I hope you feel better soon xx
U poor thing. It’s bloody awful OHSS. I was so so bloated and in lots of pain. Hot lemon barley water helped with the trapped wind and bloated feeling (much better than peppermint tea). My ovaries were 10x the size they should have been and I was extremely constipated so I took lactulose. When the clinic scanned me they said I was all bowel ovaries and bladder. I was sick a lot so didn’t really eat at all, but fluids as and when u can. Rest in whatever position is comfortable and defo keep an eye on how much you’re weeing. I had to measure fluid input and output for a couple of weeks. Sending U lots of love and hope u feel better soon x x X
Very sorry to hear that follow the advice here and maybe try to distract yourself away from the discomfort- movies, boxsets, magazines, crosswords.... Whatever works for you! Xx
Oh no! I had this after EC and I know how awful it was. The hospital gave me medication that reduced the fluid. Can you see if your hospital can prescribe you anything? I put up with about a week of the worst bloating of my life. Hope it goes soon for you xx
