Fresh transfer cancelled this morning 😔 OHSS and potential fibroid removal

Hey Ladies, I am so gutted 😞 I knew it would be cancelled as I have felt so bloated the last couple of days and felt myself taking deep breaths of air feeling uncomfortable thinking this must be Ohss?. I woke up today and just knew once they scanned me they will tell me no. I’m actually glad they didn’t do the transfer because I just want to feel fit and healthy again I feel awful. The egg collection really took it out of me. The doctor also said my tummy looks uneven and there is a fibroid or something else she can’t identify properly but it’s very big and I also have a build of fluid which points to symptoms of OHSS. I’ve never felt this uncomfortable, heavy and full feeling before until I started taking medication after EC. So on top of no transfer we have something else un-identified something in me (back to the clinic tomorrow) . Only 1 blastocyst frozen after 15 eggs collected and potential surgery if it is a fibroid to remove it which should take me back until next year to sort. Oh this fertility journey, I don’t know if it’s for me I feel like giving up 🥺I don’t want sympathy but this forum has helped me with words of encouragement so appreciate any similar stories of defeat but a triumph. Xx

Oh lovely I am so sorry, sounds like a hellish few days, and really hope you feel better soon. You totally deserve some poor me time, its horrible when you have built up to something and then it doesn't work out how we feel we deserve.

Have sent you a PM xx

oh hunni, really sorry to read this!!! Really hope you feel better soon, I know OHSS isn’t nice and can get quite severe, I had it too with the excessive bloating etc, it will get better in time I promise, plenty of rest hun, drink plenty of fluids & take it easy! sending big hugs and love to you xxx

Thanks lovely, I can’t remember feeling normal with this going on. Almost like I took for granted when I’m well. I hope it subsides soon, I haven’t been feeling myself and feel so helpless. I’ll continue drinking as much fluid as I can. Thank you again 💕xx

Poor you, OOHS isn’t pleasant. Loads of water & lucozade to help with that even if you don’t feel like drinking much. I had it twice and it really does make you feel rotten but it does subside. If you start to have any breathing problems with it do get checked out again asap. The delayed transfer is a shame when you have built up to it for so long but it is worth the delay so you feel in a much better place than you do just now. IVF is not easy but all the hurdles just make you stronger and more resilient. The fibroid thing sounds a bit strange as that should have been seen at imaging prior to egg collection but hopefully when the OOHS subsides it will turn out to be nothing. The fluid can make anatomy look confusing. Good luck going forward.x

hey love, yes I completely understand that Ohss is no joke. I would of not been able to enjoy the 2ww with these symptoms persisting and getting worse. I’m glad it was cancelled. It made me worried about the fibroid thing. I’ve had more than 12 scans in the last 2 years and every doctor has identified where my fibroid is. The doctor yesterday was alluding that it could have moved in a spot where my liver is? Which is highly questionable as my fibroid is pedunculated outside of my uterus surely it must be just the fluid that has made things worse and the progesterone pessaries and oestrogen tablets which I found out actually makes fibroids grow 😞. I hope I feel better soon thank you for your advice I have bottles of Lucozade and water to get through and have stopped taking the medication. Xxx

I am really sorry you developed OHSS! I did too back in May and they discovered it on transfer day. My consultant told me to drink protein shakes because they help absorb the fluid that builds up in the abdomen. I then discovered protein yoghurts too and rediscovered the hot water bottle. I hope it passes soon!

Hiya. You will get there. We were due to start in Feb all set then I needed a Myomectomy which happened in June and hopefully at the end of this week should be our egg collection x it’ll happen xx

hi hun, oh how disappointing in February. I had a myomectomy in 2020 so dreading having another one. Apparently this fibroid is 16cm so very big. Apparently they didn’t spot in the the internal scan as it’s higher up 😭. Wishing you the best of luck for your upcoming egg collection xx

I wanted to say I’m sorry this set back has occurred, we spend our lives in limbo and I don’t think people understand who haven’t gone through ivf the frustration of waiting and waiting some more. My only words of encouragement/positivity are that you want to feel in the best physical shape you can before you have that little embryo popped back in so try to see this next few weeks in that light if you can (easier said than done I know!) Hope you feel better soon, OHSS is horrid xx

hi love, thank you for your words of encouragement. I agree completely I really want to feel my best before having my one frostie popped back in 🥺. My motivation will be just that getting back to my best, it looks as though I will need to have a fibroid removal which is a setback but this whole journey I’ve had nothing but setbacks so will keep going there has to be a breakthrough at some point surely xx
