Endometrial scratch

I have my first ever endometrial scratch on Tuesday. Is it painful? I need to go straight to work afterwards for few hours and then catch a flight as I’m being sent on a business trip. Pretty full on day 🙄

I didn’t think it was bad at all. Just a bit like a smear really, and a bit uncomfortable when they start scratching but it was fine. I had a few period type aches afterwards. I’m really pleased I had it done as I never had a BFP with prior embryo transfers, but i did this time and I think the scratch might have helped. Good luck 🤞💕 xX

Oh that’s very reassuring, fantastic that you had your BFP :) xx

It was painful for a few seconds. I took it easy for the rest of the day as had a tiny bit of discomfort - but wouldn't go as far as saying I had pain after.

I am sure it is like everything else - everyone has different experiences.

Suppose it also depends on who does the procedure.

Xxx

I will take panadol before just in case. It doesn’t sound like I would be able to take it easy though 🙁 thanks for your reply, I hope all is well with your pregnancy xx

Yes I took painkillers beforehand - forgot to say that. See what others say! Good to get a few opinions. Xxx

I’ve had four. Two weren’t too bad, two hurt a lot. Either way, they were over so quickly! Honestly. Having a fairly full bladder really makes it so much easier. Take some paracetamol before. The cramping is similar to af cramping but nothing major. Good luck. You’ll be fine xx

Thanks for a good tip about the bladder 😊 I’m sure I will survive 😁 xx

It’s just a bit uncomfortable like a smear and a very quick procedure so any pain / discomfort from the scratch itself will be momentary. I took a couple of co-codamol before my last one and I hardly felt a thing. Had period type cramps for a while afterwards. Best of luck with yours on Tuesday. Hope it goes ok for you xx

Like the others have said very similar to a smear, a little uncomfortable when they start scratching but it really doesn’t last long. I had period type pains all afternoon after but after some paracetamol it was fine. Good luck! I am currenty 6 weeks pregnant, so glad I had the scratch! xxx

Thank you for replying and congratulations on your pregnancy xxx

I found the scratching uncomfortable but just as thought I couldn't take any more it was over! I cramped slightly for about 10 minutes then went off for afternoon tea 😁 Good luck xx

I found it fine - a bit uncomfortable but not painful. I took some paracetamol beforehand which I hear helps. I did have a bit of cramping throughowut the afternoon but nothing I couldn’t cope with and I also went straight back to work. One thing I did find is that AF arrived early which it hardly ever does (I’m usually 30-34 days and it arrived at 27) so if you’re going away for any length of time then you might want to take supplies with you just in case. Hope it goes well.

Thanks, I’m definitely going to take paracetamol. I was given Norethisterone to start on day 14, I have scratch on day 19, need to stop the tablets on day 25, after which my period will come. I didn’t think to ask why I had to be medicated to the scratch. 🤔 xx

Hi, everyone is different but I found mine quick and relatively painless I went to work after and I’d say I have a fairly low pain threshold x

Thanks, I hope that I’m like you as I need to go straight to work and then catch a flight 😐 x
