Hello, I was wondering when after an egg transfer should my period be due? I had my egg transfer on Monday (5days ago) I’m feeling like I’ve got PMS and the usual dreaded period pains since last night. The clinic advised me to test next Friday, but am thinking it hasn’t worked and my period is due in a few days at this rate.
It is my first IVF round (and only one as I’m 43 and know when to quit!) and they transferred an embryo saying it was good quality, so got my hopes up for a few days but now I’m wondering if my period is imminent. I’ve been on cyclogest pessaries since egg collection.

Just keep on taking the medication you’ve been given. PMS and early pregnancy symptoms are really similar. Even if you have a bleed, speak to your clinic before stopping any of the drugs.
Hello! Ah the 2ww is bloody awful! Your period won’t be due when it normally is as they’ve mucked about with your hormones so much that it’s hard to predict when it comes on, which is not helpful when we are stressing! Generally the cyclogest should keep any bleeding at bay, I had to have the injections as well as I don’t absorb progesterone particularly well, so if you spot phone your clinic. One thing I will say is progesterone can give you cramps and implantation can feel like strange twinges! So basically it could be either just to be a complete mind ****!! Wishing you lots of luck xxx
I had cramps for 4 days before my bfp whilst on the pesseries, I thought I was out, turned out not so! I was lucky enough that my clinic did bloods 14 days after egg collection, don’t know how everyone else waits extra days past when their period should have arrived to not know if it was the pesseries or pregnancy keeping it at bay! Wishing you all the best x
Hi KEndo16. Your symptoms could just be down to the effects of the progesterone you have been prescribed. Do carry on until your official test date next Friday. Keeping everything crossed for you. Diane
