Advice on next steps ..

Hi all,

Ive been TTC for 12months with no success. After approx 6months of trying we paid for private follicle tracking scan which found I have PCO and ovulate on day 21. I have a regular 30 day cycle. My endometrium otherwise looked fine. Ive been looking at our local assisted conception policy which states that after 12months primary care investigations include:

- Sperm Test (paid for private a few months ago, all perfect)

- Progesterone (had 2 months ago, 40nm/ol, was told above 30 was normal)

- FSH (not yet had)

If all those are normal the policy says we should try another year before being referred to specialist or for any hormone treatment (presumably clomid etc)

I’m a bit worried because 2/3 tests are ‘normal’, if the 3rd is also its like we are back to the drawing board.

I was just wondering if i should insist on further blood tests to check my thyroid and other blood levels? And for a HSG to check my tubes? My acupuncturist thinks i would be a good candidate for clomid, its frustrating if made to wait a whole other year before being considered 😔

Any advice would be hugely appreciated xx

I have it too and we were told it shouldn’t affect ttc but we’re also dealing with MFI xx

Shouldn’t that’s what they say but does that mean it can? That is the only thing that is untoward in our journey x

I’m really not sure.. I guess as long as you’re ovulating and have regular cycles that’s all they seem to concern themselves with. I did conceive naturally 10 years ago in a previous relationship but it ended in an early miscarriage..

With PCOS the problem tends to be that women have irregular periods and aren’t ovulating by themselves. That doesn’t apply to me. I ovulate every month and my cycles are fairly regular on average of every 31/32 days xx

Im told conflicting things. Its a hormonal balance, so im convinced it does. Ive read all your posts, i am near identical to you. Spots on chin / neck despite being so good with my diet / care. Regular periods. Still no pregnancy though. I just want to fight for my voice to be heard and not just fobbed off because i am ovulating, clearly there is a problem. So frustrating 😞 x

Are you on any medication to help your hormone imbalance?xx

Just Inositol powder. Was on vitex agnus castus last month but had a break this month as i ran out of tablets. Not prescribed by Drs just from what ive read & my acupuncturist advice. Going to start taking vitex again next month. I also try to have a balanced diet, no caffeine, minimal / no sugar, no alcohol. Nothing helped so far though x

I know very little about clomid but if you are ovulating I can’t really see why you would need it? Your luteal phase seems to be on the short side and some believe that this is a defect and that it can affect implantation. If you’re under 35 I think it’s generally two years of ttc before intervention but over that I think it’s 12 months so although frustrating it is sadly standard procedure xx

From tracking my temps my body seems to try to ovulate but always ends up being late at around 21 days, randomly 26 days last month. Luteal phase always 9-10 days which is on the shorter side but not too much of an issue from what ive been told. My luteal phase is short because i ovulate late because of my PCO ☹️ apparently clomid can help stimulate ovulation to happen earlier which may help me i dont know. I might just be clutching at straws.

So frustrating that they dont see PCO as an issue with TTC but clearly it is for so many people x
