Confused and lonely

Hi I’m very confused as to what to do next..My partner and I have been going through all the fertility testing since January this year, after ttc for over 2 years. We’ve just had our results and have been advised ivf would be the best route to go down. I am very confused as to why that is the case, I have a pollup on the lining of my uterus and one blocked tube- I asked why having those issues dealt with isn’t the 1st point of call? I have been put on the very long 6 month waiting list for this procedure now even thou the consultant wasn’t keen on me doing so? I can’t help but feel she’s pushing me towards ivf as it now isn’t funded by the nhs in Cambridge at all. For me ivf is only an option when I’ve exhausted all other possibilities.. can anyone relate? I ovulate and have regular periods, but I know there’s a problem with the lack of cm I produce but have read that Pollups could cause this?? I am doing all I can with regards to increasing it- high dose of evening primrose, grapfruit juice, cough medicine 3 time per day up until ovulation and I’ve recently read coQ10 is beneficial also. Has anyone any advice or know if anything that I could or should be doing differently? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Hi, hope you don't think I'm prying but what were your partner's results?

I have PCOS but have been managing it through diet and exercise, I have regular periods and regular ovulation but we need ICSI because of male factor infertility.

It might be a case of IVF being best got the both of you rather than just you x

Hi Loulou3259 I couldnt help but read this and relate. Dr’s wont refer me for testing for another 2 months but i too ovulate and have regular periods but have hardly any CM and what i do have is sticky / creamy regardless of the time in my cycle. I had a small polyp on my uterus which was removed (wasnt TTC at the time had surgery for another reason).

Have you found any of the things you do to be helpful in getting you to produce more? My understanding of coq10 is limited but i thought this was more helpful for egg quality xx

Hey, Dont feel confused. Isolate the two issues. One may be fertility but the other is gynaecological, resolve that first. Don’t get pushed into the ivf route, the hormones can make your body produce polyps and fibroids so you want to be fully ready and clear before. Whatever the doctors say you can ask why and why again. Don’t be scared.

Do you have heavy bleeding? Use it as a cause to explore.

Once that is cleared up then you can discuss ivf.

And keep asking questions here - collectively there are the right answers and advice.
