Happy Friday!! Anyone on Clexane being monitored with an Anti Factor xa test? I have Factor v Leiden and been on daily Clexane 40 injections since pre embryo transfer and now i’m almost 17 weeks but quite worried that the results of my blood test indicated i’m Just below therapeutic levels of blood thinning. Has anyone had this test? I’m seeing my haematologist next week to decide on either increasing dose to 60 or twice daily injections. I’m worried as I’ve lost 6 pregnancies already, 2 of which were missed miscarriages synonymous with blood clotting issues. Will report back next week x

Anti factor xa test
Hi Natalia44. Well, first of all it's great that they found a reason for you losing all those pregnancies. When being treated with Clexane (heparin), it is good to check that the level you are receiving is the correct dose for you, hence the factor xa test. Good that you're having this test, as your haematologist can then adjust the strength of Clexane that you need, if necessary. So far, you have done great, and I'm sure your specialists will get you to the end of your pregnancy safely. Thinking of you. Diane
Thanks so much for responding Diane!! Great advice as always. Have a great weekend x
I’ll be following your journey. I have lupus anticoagulant, three miscarriages, two missed. Now we know, if I can get pregnant again, we’re hoping for more success.. Please keep us posted xx
I’ll keep you posted lovely! So tough we had to go through this journey before diagnosis we can make a difference now. Worrying that most women on Clexane wouldn’t even have this blood test to see if the Clexane is working effectively at the right dose. If I listened to my clinic i’dbe taking Clexane 20 which my haematologist said is merely homeopathic and doesn’t touch the sides. The blood test has indicated that even Clexane 40 isn’t strong enough so let’s see what she says in Tuesday, such a worry xxx
I didn’t know about this test to see if you’re on the correct dosage either. But I only started Heparin on my last round which was a bfn. They have assured me that as I’ll be high risk, I’ll be under a haematologist at Birmingham hospital. So hopefully they’d know to test. If I ever get another bfp. Thanks to you it’s something I will definitely be asking about. Good luck Tuesday xx
So glad you’re gonna be under specialist care! Of course you’ll have a bfp again 🙏🏼🤞🏼 Always stay positive 😘xxx
Hey lovely, hope you’re well! I’ve just seen the haematologist and she wanted to double my dose to 2x40 Clexane per day but I told her about my nose bleeds and she said weighing up risks v benefit she’s putting me on 60 Clexane per day and i’m having another blood test in 2 weeks to check this increase is at a protective level xxx
Thanks for the update. So how many injections of clexane is that per day? xx
Just one higher dose injection for now - Clexane 60 but she did say when i’m In 3rd trimester it’s best to inject 1 in the am and 1 in the pm of Clexane 40 xxx
I've tried to read up on clexane but have found conflicting information but maybe there is some one on here that is able to answer. But I read that once you've injected clexane it's only effective for 12 hours and therefore ideally you need to inject twice a day. I have further read, and I think it was on here somewhere, that when injected once a day, the clexane will last the full 24 hours and that is why you need to inject at the same time each day (I had assumed the latter was true as my clinic told me to inject at the same time each day). Do either of you know? I am following this thread also as I was prescribed clexane 40 on my last failed cycle, and I didn't have a blood test to check it was working which is quite concerning. I'm not even sure how they "pick" how many mg you are to go on without this the test you refer to xx
I didn’t know about blood tests to monitor dosage either but maybe that’s because I haven’t actually taken Heparin while pregnant yet (only took it on the tww) as we didn’t get a bfp on our last transfer xx
Hi Annie please don’t worry!! I was referred to a haematologist because this is their specialty and Clexane is active for 24hrs so I inject mine at 6am every morning. Clexane is v effective and she’s only being extra careful with me because of 6 pregnancy losses and I’ve seen my results and at the highest end of normal which she said is safe but she wants to get it down a bit. She said extra care is needed in the third trimester and 2 a day of 40 is best but i’m Worried in case I go into early labour as you need to stop Clexane 24hrs before. Praying this doesn’t happen 🙏🏼Xxx
Hello! I am finding it really hard to source a haematologist who specialises in IVF to see privately in the London area. Could you recommend yours? Thank you
