E2 4000 please advice

Morning! I posted yesterday but didn't receive any answer and I am very worried 😢

I went for my scan and blood test yesterday (after 8 days on Fostimon). Scan was fine, 6 follicles 12-13 mm, 5 between 9-10 mm and other 4 between 6-8 mm. Then they called me to reduce the dose of Fostimon from 225 to 150 because my E2 are over 4000. Isn't it to high? What is the safe limit? My ER should be on Wednesday 13th. Has anyone had high E2 levels and went through ER and Transfer without any problem? I am terrified of OHSS. Thanks!

Hi sorry that you are feeling worried, I don't have any answers I'm afraid. I was on menopur, not heard of Fostimon and I don't know what E2 is either... What have the clinic said? Try not to worry (easier said than done) if you do end up getting ohss, they will look after you. I think it's rare to get it severely. And as they have reduced your meds, perhaps that's going to help prevent it a bit more. Good luck xx

Sorry can't help either. My clinic don't do bloods during the IVF cycle. Is there a advise number you can call the clinic on to get someone to explain the numbers to you?

Thanks so much for your replies! E2 is the oestrogen levels. I don't understand what is the limit. Somewhere i read 3000 on the day of ER others say between 12-15000. There is a huge difference. The clinic only said to riduce my meds as the levels are a bit high but I don't know how worrying they are. I just feel miserable since yesterday but I don't want to call the emergency number and disturb them for this 😓 Thank you anyway for your kindness.

Hi there, try not to worry the clinic know what they're doing. My E2 level was 3200 two days before my EC (which was yesterday) so god knows the level they were at on the actual day, possible double that amount as E2 apparently doubles every 48 hours.

I'm sure it will be fine, you must be quite close to EC now so your level won't be too high to necessitate cancelling EC. What are you triggering with? I triggered with Decapeptyl and will be having a frozen transfer a month later to avoid ohss. Consider discussing this option with your doc. Good luck with everything xx

I had high levels, was very bloated and had some pain. I didn’t have it severe though and ended up being able to do the transfer. They were worried that I may not have been able. Try not to worry, I wish I could help more xx

Sorry to hear you are worried :( It’s horrible reaching out for help to only find that no one appears to be there! I hope you’re feeling reassured after reading the replies above. I just wanted to say try not to worry, it seems like your clinic have taken action to minimise your risk, it sounds like they’re doing everything they can to make sure you’re ok. I’m suffering with OHSS at the moment which has meant that our ET has been delayed but the main thing is that we’ve been lucky enough to get a high number of good quality embryos so hopefully it will all be worth it in the end. The positive thing is that you’ve got multiple follicles and your EC is very soon now so hang in there! All we can do is take things 1 step at a time and have faith in the people look after us. If you’re still feeling worried I would call the contact number you mentioned; that’s why they’re there after all x

Hey sorry you had no answers yesterday. I had my oestradiol tested on my first cycle at day 7 of stims, I had a reading of 2198. On day 10 of stims it was 4970 and day 11 it was 5136. I then had EC 2 days later. My clinic did reduce my stims in the lead up to EC but I was fine and didn't suffer at all with OHSS. Im currently going through my second cycle, but my clinic im at now doesn't do blood testing. If you are in any doubt though ring your clinic, it's what they are there for xx

Thank you so much for you answer, you reassured me a bit! I will try to wait till Monday and will talk to the clinic as I have another scan and Blood test. In the meantime I have reduced my dose so, luckly, they won't keep growing too much.

I like you at the time knew I was having blood tests but didn't really know what the results meant. All I knew is that I would have the blood test at my scan, the clinic would then call me in the evening to tell me what dose my stims should be at from that night onwards. I've not had any effects yet and today is my day 4 of stims on my 2nd cycle. This time I'm on 450 menopur whereas last time it was 225/300! Glad you are not worrying but it's always good to be alert to any side effects you are having xx

Honestly, I don't have any side effects. Nothing at all. I feel very well, no bloating, no pain. Nothing. And I guess and hope it is a good sign. Maybe just a few cramps from yesterday but i think it is normal due to all the follicles that are growing. Good luck with your second cycle!
