Thyroid function

I'm going through the process of donor treatment in Spain. We've sent them all our blood tests and they said they want me to take thyroxine for a raised TSH. The problem is that my TSH is completely within normal range. When I previously had treatment in New Zealand it was even slightly higher than now and its never been questioned before.

Just wondered whether anyone else has had this issue before and whether overseas clinics have wanted an abnormally low TSH.

Do you know what your tsh was? The acceptable range is 0.5 to 8 or something like that, but actually anything over 2.5 is not ideal for fertility so they normally bring it below that.

My TSH is 2.8 at the moment. The normal range here in NZ is 0.4 - 4

It was previously 3 and no-one mentioned it.

Hey my tsh was in the normal limits but for trying to conceive it needed to be below 2.5. I got mine down below the 2.5 with levothyroxine and at one point it did creep back up to 2.8 whilst taking meds and I therefore had to increase my levothyroxine. They are now happy with it at 1.3. But you do need to keep an eye on it especially if you do conceive so make sure you have it checked because it can easily creep up xx

Mine was in normal UK limits if I wasn’t ttc - at TSH 4!! However apparently when ttc & for fertility treatment it should be below 2.5!! I’m on levothyroxine now!! x

Mine was a bit higher than yours (not high enough to concern my GP to treat) but my clinic wanted me under 2 so I'm on thyroxine too. In all honestly I feel so much better & less tired.....didnt realise I was tired!!😂 My clinic wrote to my GP to say although I was within normal limits, the recommended levels for fertility was under 2. There is stuff about it in the nice guideines. If you look at my previous post you'll see all the advice I got re levels of prolactin & thyroid levels. My thyroid affected my prolactin.xx

Thanks for your help ladies. I decided to start the thyroxine today and will have a Skype call with my doctor next week. Really feels like I’m back in the ivf game. X
