Day 8, 1 tiny follicle 7mm

So day 8 of injections and only one tiny follicle measuring 7mm on my right ovary. None on my left. Devastated! Will keep going until day 12 but consultant very kindly warned me that we may need to consider abandoning this cycle. Next scan is 4 days away which feels like a lifetime. Why is my body so rubbish? Any advice or experiences are welcomed. I need something positive to cling on to!

Hi,

On my day 8 scan I had 2 small follicles and a few tiny ones that the nurses hoped would catch up, they did and on egg collection day I had 11 follicles collected.

how many units are you taking? if your ovaries arent responding, ask the doctors on the next cycle to use growth hormone. Uts called Saizen. this is what I had and I had 7 eggs retrieved ... also only one on the left.

I am not sure whether it is practice in the UK but its worth to ask them.

Also I had Gonal F ( turkish equivalent to that ) 450 units

Its maybe worth to prepare the body with supplements before hand.. I know this is not helpful now but maybe on the next cycle. Hugs

Thanks Silvanti. I'm on 225 Bemfola (similar to Gonal F) and 225 Menopur (FSH & LH). We have already upped the Menopur from 150 to 225. I'm taking so many supplements, currently on 10 different tablets per day!

Hi jengi, you always have the option of donor eggs. We advertised in our local paper and the response was brilliant. Then to make it more affordable (we were self-funding) we shared the eggs another couple. So we got 1 fresh and 3 Frosties. Hope everything works out for you x

Thank JMAW, I have been told our chances would improve from 10% to 50% if we used donor eggs. Its taken a while to get my head around this idea but I am slowly getting there. Is it ok to private message you to hear more about your donor egg journey?

It's a tough decision but once you get started you don't look back! There are no guarantees of course but we got 6 beautiful blastocysts from our first DE cycle!!xx

Oh sorry that’s a worry but day 8 is still early! I’ve read protein, milk, beetroot might be worth a try. Also maybe start to research dhea and ubiquinol in case of cancellation & planning for next time xx

Clara, thanks a million. I'm on both DHEA and ubquinol. I've been drinking a litre of whole milk per day since starting my injections - advice from my acupuncturist. I love beetroot so will eat more of it!

Hi jengi. So sorry to hear this, but at the risk of sounding a bit blase, I have seen improvements following a few more days of stimulation. Obviously, I hope it does work and you can get to egg collection, but if not there will be other drugs, protocols to try I'm sure. Fingers crossed and I will be thinking of you. Diane

This happened to my daughter on her first ever cycle. It got abandoned so the next cycle they upped her dose . She now has a two year old. Good luck xx

Honestly it’s not as bad as you think and at least if the cancel before egg collection you don’t have to pay for the cycle again. Xx

I didn’t respond very well only having 1 decent sized follicle on my scan on day 9. They ended up letting me go to 14 days and ended up with 5 good sized follicles with 3 eggs collected so don’t give up. I know numbers weren’t great but you only need 1! Xx

They were frozen as my DH needs to have surgical sperm retrieval. Letting me go to 14 days meant we had to re arrange the op so all booked for 21st June. Did a second round and got another two eggs and currently on down reg on third round to hopefully get a few more for if they find any sperm 🤞🤞 hope all goes well for you xx
