Stopping medication and worried

Hi lovely people,

I am currently 10wk2days and I am going to start lowering my steriod dosage from next Wednesday. However my elleste and progesterone I stop at at exactly 12 weeks. I am so scared. Did anyone else have the same worries? Did you stop at 12 weeks or 12 weeks and 6 days?

Every day is a mind struggle!! My 12 week scan isn't until the first week of June. X

The info I've got from my clinic says to stop at the end of the 12th week. But seems some advise to stop earlier x

Thanks hun, I guess I have to trust the doctors!! So hard :(

My clinic told me yesterday that many clinics stop oestrogen /progesterone at 8 weeks past fet but they play safe by continuing to 10 weeks past transfer. I will be 11 weeks 5 days when I stop and they said I don’t need to stagger stop or anything, I can just stop. They also said that if some women run out of medication just short of this date, they don’t order them more. I spoke to the clinic yesterday as I wasn’t sure if I had thrown up my oestrogen tablet or not (not having fun with the morning sickness) and they told me I didn’t need to take another one because I am ten weeks. I’m not on steroids though so I’m not sure about those.

Thank you for replying back to me. Well I guess something is working as I have such a hairy face 😂😂😂😂 I am going to reduce the steriods this week. Eeek. Just have to remain calm and trust my body x

Yeah I worried about stopping all my meds too. I questioned them over and over lol The only thing they agreed to keep me on was my 75mg aspirin until 38 weeks everything else I stopped at 13 weeks (but it was only 13 weeks because they couldn't squeeze my scan in until then and they wanted me to have my scan first, otherwise they would've told me to stop at 12). I think it's from the fear we have, the distrust we have in our bodies after we've felt betrayed by them for so long. If you're really worried, quiz your nurse/specialist until you feel reassured that's what I did. We also had a private 16 week gender scan just to ensure little one was doing ok after a few weeks off the drugs xx

Good luck my dear :) xx

If you can afford it I'd recommend an extra growth scan at a private place (they are between 50-60 pound) as it just makes the wait between nhs scans seem less and helps set your mind at ease to see your baby developing well. It really helped me relax a bit before the 20 week scan xxx

I think if all goes well tomorrow we will be booking a private scan in-between that and the 20 week scan. Thanks for your help xx

You are definitely not alone with worry from stopping meds

I felt like it was my baby’s life line but try and think that the doctors know what they are doing

Good luck hope you have a healthy and happy pregnancy xx

It's so hard isn't it hun! Every evening husband talks to the baby that it's getting it's juice from my injection lol. My stomach is so hard now that the needles hurt!! But it's always worth it. Good luck to you to xxx

Thank you

I hope it gets a bit easier

Even tho until we hold our baby we can never really relax

Fingers crossed for you 😘

My US clinic advise stopping at 10 weeks but I’m following uk protocol and stopping at 12 weeks. Done it before and no worries. Good luck, you’ll be absolutely fine xxx

I was worried too but then I was told by doctors that high doses of prednsolone can lead to gestational diabetes so they convinced me in the end! I have a healthy little boy now

All the best for your pregnancy xx

Hi my clinic said it’s fine to stop at 12 but I said psychologically I feel like I can’t just stop so she said I can ‘wean’ of them one a day for a week until 13 weeks if they helps me but it’s def fine to stop them as our body is making its own by then xxx

Thanks hun, I am going to be left with progesterone so maybe I could do that. It's just the worry. I have my scan on 4th June so hopefully that should ease my worries!! Hope you're doing well x
