Bleeding before otd

I have had 2 icsi cycles and each time I have started bleeding on days 9/10 post 2 day transfer.

I used crinone gel with my first cycle and this time Lubion injections.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Does anyone have any suggestions for what to do on further cycles? On my last cycle I asked the consultant if I could have extra progesterone to stop bleeding early but they said it was not necessary.

Hi,

I was the samea first cycle bled heavily ! 6dp5dt whilst on utrogestan.

This time I asked about extra progesterone and was told ‘let’s gonwith standard protocol’ and was given cyclogest and assured ‘you will not bleed on cyclogest’

10dp5dt a day before otd I started bleeding. The next day I upped my own progesterone dose to 3xday and bleeding stopped imeediately.

I feel like I’m hitting a brick wall with these ‘specialists’. They don’t think outside the box or do blood tests to at least monitor what’s going on “as they wouldn’t know how to interpret it” 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

It does sound like you might need extra progesterone - I wil be pushing for the same. However I also want to be tested for blood clotting factors and other things that could be affecting implantation - which may then be bleeding early. I’m at a loss too

So sorry for your losses. I had implantation issues and had lubion injections, and also had Inhixa (Clexane) as a blood thinner. This was after tests specifically for implantation issues which might be worth you having? Just a warning, the tests are not cheap... xx

Oh also I had lubion in the morning and pessaries at night for progesterone x

Hi Sarah- sorry to jump in to your post but I have had similar issues (see my comment above pls)

Can you tell me what tests you had for implantation issues? My clinic seem clueless. The only test they appear to offer is thrombophilia for £400 (!)

I do feel I need blood thinners /steroids for future cycles and maybe high progesterone or injection tx

I'm with CARE Fertility and they had a whole sheet of different tests available. The set of tests I had were for recurrent implantation failure. It tested for 13 different things which can affect implantation. If you are interested i can pm you x

Sorry about your failed cycles. I was same as you , started spotting on day 11 after egg collection (which was only 8 days after transfer) and it lasted 5 days until I stopped the pessaries and af came Full flow. the dr said I have a possible leutal phase defect & that extra progesterone would be offered if there’s a next time. I am trying to find out how I might be prescribed progesterone in a normal monthly cycle just to try it. There’s another thread on here today about it x

To offer an alternative view, they may be wanting to see if it is recurrent or ‘just one of those things’. FWIW, I bled at 9/10 days post ET on my first round on cyclogest, simply because I wasn’t pregnant. Second round I got pregnant and no bleeding. So as difficult and worrying as it is, it might just be your body doing the right thing xxx

Sorry, that last sentence doesn’t sound right. By ‘right thing’ I mean bleeding if you are not pregnant, obviously not referring to infertility... which is very much our bodies not doing the right thing.

My consultant explained to me why we bleed before test day and it makes total sense! I bled 4 days before OTD. My new clinic only do frozen transfers. He said that in a fresh cycle, obviously you are pumping your body with drugs. He said what the issue is then, is that your lining is actually more advanced and developed than it should be at that stage in your cycle, so it sheds sooner, and the extra progesterone isn’t of use because your lining is past how it should be. He really believes that when the results of the e-freeze trial come out it will show higher success rates.
