Do i test early in 2 ww

Hi

I have just had my transfer this morning and they gave me a pregnancy test to take on 7th april. Im tempted to test early but not sure. Has anyone found this beneficial ? Ive heard you can track your hcg more by doing this as the lines get stronger.

Also my clinic doesnt do a blood test to confirm they just go off your test result and book you in for a ultra sound 3 weeks later ? The tests must be pretty reliable. I would rather have it confirmed than have to wait another 3 weeks....

I honestly believe no good can come from testing early. If your clinic’s OTD is ridiculously long then I think fair to test at standard time for most clinics (11dp5dt). But otherwise I see so many women drive themselves bonkers. I’ve tested early and had positive and then had negative test soon after OTD, and I’ve tested early and had stark negatives at x days post transfer that some others have started to get positives and then felt crushingly awful for days as you know it’s likely not worked but equally can’t stop meds until OTD. So in my last few I’ve resolved to stay distracted, understand that all symptoms are likely medication ie progesterone related and I test on OTD. You get one answer then that you know is reliable and no agonising.

Tracking HCG with home urine tests is not reliable. I had line progression with my ectopic pregnancy and tested positive very early. But my blood HCG told a different story. A positive is a positive on a urine home test and that’s all they’re designed to tell you. You don’t need a blood test to confirm as home tests are reliable in saying yes you are pregnant. If you want to have reassurance of adequately rising betas then get a blood test done 48 hours apart after your BFP. Places like ultrasound direct do then private if your clinic won’t.

Rest relax distract (avoid forums if you can!) and best of luck for your 2WW xx

Thank you for taking the time and effort to write this and for being brutally honest with your own personal experience. I will take all of take this all on board and consider my options carefully moving forward.

Take care

I also 💯 agree with everything you said.

I think testing too early can cause unnecessary stress, and so can comparing line progression! If you want to take it slightly early, you should have an answer by about 10dp5dt but regardless you'll have to retest on your OTD. if you can wait then do, but if you really can't, you'll probably get the right answer a couple of days early. Good luck! 🤞🏻✨

I personally found that the 2ww was too much for me....on my first transfer I test on day 9 pt, second day 5 pt and 3rd day 6 pt... I found each time the result was accurate. I feel that I rather know before that hold hope for too long and then be even more upset. My first 2 transfers failed and 3rd was successful ❤️ I wish you all the best ❤️

Totally agree with everyone and completely understand what your going through. I'm in the 2ww and it's driving me crazy (I keep flip flopping on keeping positive and then convincing myself it's negative so all we can do is keep busy and try to remain hopeful). This will be my 3rd transfer (two failed previously) and my last embryo so wishing you and us all the luck 🤞🏽 Hang in there!

Thank you all for your comments. I may do a test day 10 and day 12 that way it wont cause to much stress and i can see the dofference in the two tests with the hcg. My reasons for wanting to test early and do a few were to see the prgression of the line colour for hcg levels and that its nit a chemical cos 3 weeks is a long time to wait and this would give me an indiction things are on the right track x

I’ll be testing the same day as you!

Good luck for everything! For me personally, I’ve decided it’s better to be blissfully unaware and remain positive as any uncertainty with lines could but my mind and body under unnecessary stress xxx

test whenever you like it’s your pee and your experience! The clinics just make up a test day that suits them. If you use a pink dye early detection one I’ve always had my result by 8 days after transfer but something usually shows around day 6 quite faint. I would avoid clear blue strip ones as they are a bit unreliable.

I’ve had lots of chemicals and I prefer to test early to know if I am having one or not rather than have a faint line on test day and not know if it’s starting out or getting lighter or even never knowing implantation started as it’s gone by test day… it just helps me know more about what happened that transfer if that makes sense!

It doesn’t change the outcome in anyway so it really doesn’t matter when you test so it’s such a personal choice but there are no prizes for waiting and I hate to see the lovely ladies on here beating themselves up for ‘not lasting until test day’ as I really makes no difference and we should never ever feel guilty about when we choose to test 🤗 good luck for whenever you choose to take that test! X

Thank you for sharing. What brand tests do you use?

I used boots pink dye early detection. Does the exact same as FrER at a fraction of the price 🤗

I would wait if you can. At least until day 9 or 10 as I've seen loads of people drive themselves crazy with line progression. Also if you do get a negative early on, you still need to take meds to OTD which I found hard knowing it had failed, and if you get a positive you have even longer to wait until your viability scan.
