Advice for flying abroad for egg collection

Just wondered what people do about booking flights for egg collection? If anyone has gone abroad for treatment please let me know what you did please...because the timings need to be adjusted sometimes so may not be able to book flights in advance.

Anybody advice/experience of this would be appreciated

Well it’s down to the clinic to advise you. If a FET then book away they normally defrost on morning of transfer. If fresh then that would depend on donor egg collection and if blasts do check with clinic also hubby will need to be there oncolkection day to give sample for eggs.

Thanks having a scan in London on the 19th and is based on how that goes. Don't know whether to book for Spain the next day or not, having the whole week off. Just wondered if I should leave the ticket to last minute.

I would check with your clinic. I am not sure if you are having egg collection done and you should take an injection at a set time that times when you have eggs collected. This will determine when you need to be out in Spain.

I would also check with Spain to see if they need you out in advance to do any bloods or extra scans as I have had that surprise before.

You could look at booking your tickets but selecting the option to pay a little bit more in case you need to change your flights a bit. You would then have to pay the difference between the flights.

Maybe start looking to see what flight options you do have and times so you can hit the ground running when you know more.

I was in exactly the same situation recently waiting to hear and getting a bit stressed re getting flights. The clinic needs to understand it is not always possible to click a finger and to get on a flight the next day. Something they seem to forget.

Hi, thanks for this that helps a lot, I need to have things organised and under control- because most things in this process is very hard and totally out of your control! That is what I find the hardest; I think I will look at the flight options and sort before I go.

The clinic have said they are doing another scan on the 21st, in Spain and then I suppose collection on the Monday if all is going to plan 😐. Trigger injection will have to be done over there because I don't have the drug for that yet (English drug company don't do that drug apparently). Anyway thanks for advice. Hoping it is all going to fall into place....🤞
