Period pain between IVF cycles?

Hi I am between IVF cycles and I am about to start my next one.

However I have what I can only describe as severe period pain. I am on day 4 of my period. Normally (what’s normal) for me is pain during the first 2 days.

Taking only paracetamol isn’t helping. But does the trick if I time it!!! And I am using a lot of heat pads and bottles. Not sure if I should be doing the latter!!

Has anyone else experienced this?? I also have endo. But this pain is so severe I feel like a teenager on my first period!! Or likening it to that!

Hi,

Sorry for what you are experiencing. It must be causing you a lot of worries. Even though, you need not worry because you are not alone. Quite a number of women experience menstrual cramps every month. I think we need to look at what causes the cramps to help us understand what we ought to do. Notice that other than the pain, some women complain about fatigue, bleeding and other symptoms that affect the quality of life one is leading. The cramps and the intense abdominal cramping begins within 24 hours after the start of the periods. It may continue up to the last day of your periods. You will feel a constant ache, throbbing, and pain in the uterus, Dizziness, loose bowels, headache, nausea and so forth. Typically, the pains are caused by elevated production of prostaglandins. These are hormones that are produced by the uterus which makes the uterus to contrast. Strong uterus contraction brings about a shut down to the uterus, a thing that deprives the muscles the oxygen required and hence it sets up cramps and pain. If the pain is so severe, it indicates that you have a stronger uterine contraction. Also, conditions such as pelvic inflammatory diseases may also cause menstrual cramps. Endometriosis can also cause fertility problems as well. Also, inflammatory diseases can scar the fallopian tubes. Women who use the intrauterine device or those who have fibroid tumor may also experience severe pain. Lastly, women having sexually transmitted diseases may feel the pain.

Hi I have endo but I was wondering if anyone had experienced the same during IVF. I normally only get pain the first 2 days but it is day 4 and the pain is still going strong.

I had something similar with my first period after completing an ivf cycle then a hysteroscopy. I wonder if the hormones and disruption to the normal uterine processes just flare things up a bit. I didn't have it that bad again with my next period. I'd get it checked though if it doesn't go away.
