I had a fresh cycle of IVF in October with 2 embryos transferred. Unfortunately this resulted in a chemical pregnancy with full bleed from 27th October. I discussed next steps with my consultant and we agreed that this month, when my period came, we’d start meds to do a frozen transfer.
This cycle has been weird. First off I got mid cycle bleeding around day 14 (presumably at the time of ovulation). Then I started with very light spotting around 5 days ago. I was waiting for proper flow to come so as to mark the start of the new cycle and when we could progress with the next treatment. The spotting has been so light /intermittent and today seemed to stop. I’m day 28 (normally have a 25 day cycle) so I decided to do a urine pregnancy test…
This looks faintly positive to me?! I am totally shaken up. Could this be a natural pregnancy (after a total of 4 embryos transferred)?!
Amazingly I’ve been able to get a blood test done today (bHCG and progesterone) so am just awaiting the results. But feel like I’m going out of my mind!

It can happen between cycles- hope not too long a wait for your blood results. Could repeat test in a couple of days with your 1st pee as this is more concentrated. Good luck and fingers crossed.
I do not want to give false hope but this exactly what happened to us. I had my second negative after my second IVF in April and got my AF the day after the negative
. Me and my husband went on holiday (and had a ball doing all the things I could not do during IVF 😂).
When we came back and had a meeting with our clinic and decided that we would do a whole new protocol and use steriods etc (my first two were nhs but the hospital runs satalite clinic at a private practice nearby so had some embryos stored there).
I was waiting to start the new protocol and AF was just not coming! I did a pregnancy test and nothing!
I have never been late EVEr! Even with other issues
Anyway, when my period was a week late I thought I would test again, but I just thought it might be because of the IVF meds but it was a strong positive!!!! After 8 years !!!
I don’t know know whether it was the meds still in my system or baby cause I relaxed but low and behold We now have a beautiful and cheeky two year old daughter.
Aww thank you so much for sharing your story. It’s really crazy how these things happen! I am 100% trying not to get too excited (it’s hard!) because I’m so aware of everything that can go wrong, but how amazing if we end up being as lucky as you and your partner.
It’s also really interesting to think, why now? What’s changed? Could it be some beneficial effect of the previous IVF cycles? I did read something that suggests a possible increase in fertility after miscarriage so you never know!
I’ve also just had a weekend away with girly friends doing everything you’re not supposed to do during fertility treatments (hot tub, alcohol, mould-ripened cheeses etc). Classic timing 🙈
