1st appointment

Hi im 32 this year. Have just found out my husband cant have anymore children. He has 4 from a previous relationship so u can imagine the blow to me. I have had all my tests and everything is fine with me. I have been referred to fertility clinic and have my first appointment on 19th April. Any advice welcome as not sure what to expect xx

Hiya steffie06 its good that you have come on here the advice and knowledge of these lovely ladies has helped me alot with my journey .... my first appointment at the fertility clinic was a chat with the consultant about my past history how long we have been trying for etc... he also looked at tests that my gp had carried out and arranged more in depth tests .... good luck with your appointment 🍀 Xx

Thankyou. Will my husband already having kids affect our chances of having IVF on NHS do you reckon? Im extremely nervous n scared n non of my family really understand what im going through xx

I know exactly how you feel i dont think many people do understand unless they are actually been faced with it people think its easy .... like catching a cold getting pregnant ..... ive had all that (ignorant) , they asked us if my fiancé had children already as we would not qualify for funding on the nhs but im unsure about other treatment like iui xx

So im doubtful to get it funded as he has children? His 18 years older than me. 😢 not fair on me if we cant. How long have u been trying? Xx

No it really is unfair one of my friends is in a similar situation because her partner has a little boy .... weve been together 11 years so ide say around 7 years off contraception and thinking about dates etc....... it feels like a very long time anyway we have been for tests and there saying its unexplained were due to start our first round of ivf with icsi im just waiting for my period in april then its full steam ahead..... we had our first appointment in February 2015 its been a lengthy process with the nhs weve found but i suppose every clinics different ..... were abouts are u based ...... were with the hewitt centre in wigan and going to Liverpool for egg collection and transfer ....... i really do hope they can compramise and u get funding for the nhs..... xx

Wow seems a very lengthly process. Hope ur friend can get it too. I have everything crossed 4 u. I am based in Essex so will be using Basildon hospital they have a estimated waiting time and have said 9 out of 10 paitents start treatment in 20 weeks so im hoping i can get funded. I have no idea what to expect though. Xx

Oh thats good news I really do hope you get started asap and fundings ok for you..... it has felt like forever but now its getting closer to april and me starting injections and stuff soon its going really quick and i kind of want it to slow down a tad nerves are kicking in now .... if i can help in anyway with advice let me know wishing you lots of luck 🍀🍀🍀 xx
