Cough medicine

Last question for the day- did anyone take cough medicine during IVF as this breaks down all mucus and my friend who did IVF and was successful first time did. Any others?

I've not done a full cycle yet (still in process) but I've never been advised to take cough medicine.

Surely cough medicine only breaks down mucus in your oesopthegus, as as soon as it hits your stomach the stomach acid will kill it rendering it useless.

I saw a few stories on American sites about Benadryl. I didn’t think it was something I wanted to risk.

Hi Jenadrian79. It needs to be one that contains guaifenesin to be of any benefit. Normal cough medicines just lubricate the throat, but this ingredient is absorbed and does break down mucus. Diane

Thank you , can you recommend which one to buy and when to start taking it ? I started ivf injection yesterday thank you.
