SO bloated following egg retrieval.. anyone else?!

Hiya... so following on from egg retrieval yesterday I’m still pretty sore but the worse thing is how bloated I am! My stomach is solid and when I sit down there almost a pressure that builds up. Has anyone else had this?

Any recommendations for reducing the bloat?!

Xxx

Yes i had that and cramps. They lasted for me until embryo transfer. Drink lots of water and try anything that mights help with trapped wind. I didnt know if it was the EC or antibiotics. Bloating is very common. Dont worry.

Thank you, I just feel a bit like a balloon at the moment. I’ll get on the water drinking! 🙂 xxx

Yes! And I had the same thoughts! I’m 3 days post retrieval and today it’s not quite as bad as the last 2 but still there. I tried a green smoothie I found on ivfbabble which seemed to work - 2x celery sticks, half cucumber, ginger, 1xapple, half fennel bulb, lemon juice, spinach. Doesn’t taste as bad as it sounds and I’ve had a much better day. I found I had pressure in the back end (tmi!!) when I sat down? No idea why but it’s better today! Keep drinking lots xxx

I hope it settles down for you I was so emotional with it yesterday 😫.

😂 I know right? Wouldn’t it be nice to have some nice side effects? Medication may make you feel extreme sexiness?! Oh go on then...

Lots of luck to you too xxx

Oh I remember that well. feel for u it is horrible. I had tablets for the Ohss though unsure they did anything ☺️ hang in there it does get better. Didn’t believe it at first that drinking would help as so bloated but it really does work. Look after u☺️

Hi SMoon84, would u consider giving ur clinic a call? I wasnt sure if i should when it was me but turned out i had OHSS and i had to get anti blood clotting injections & socks, frequent scans and blood tests until it went down. It was fine though and it might not be OHSS but im sure ur clinic wont mind u checking 💞 xx

It’s the lethal combination of inflammation, progesterone, general anesthetic and morphine! It’ll settle down in a few days. Just drink a lot of water and eat a lot of fibre. I really hope you get your dream baby xx

Hi SMoon84. You poor thing! You're ovaries are probably still a bit active, so you must drink plenty of water still. Keep an eye on your urine output. It should be nice and pal and plenty of it. if it gets very dark and slows right down, you need to see the doc.Have a rest when you can, and I do hope it soon settles down again. Diane

Thank you for your advice. Symptoms are pretty much the same today. Trying to add more flax to my diet... see if that helps! Xxx

Hi. Might help. Just keep an eye on the urine and also if you become breathless. Get well quick! Diane

I’m having slight pains when passing urine but no problem with flow.. sorry TMI! Xx

That's OK as long as the output is there. Just be aware. Diane

I was very sore and bloated after egg collection and was worried when they said may have to have 3 day transfer as was still sore but thankfully felt a bit better by egg transfer on day 5. I was so constipated too, had to drink a load of prune juice to sort it out x
