Hi Cheeky_84. I’m with you, we are also having egg collection tomorrow! First of all well done on making so far! It’s a tough old journey even getting to egg collection. Try not to be scared about tomorrow. Although I know that’s easier said than done and I was scared before my 1st one (this will be my 5th). I definitely feel it has never been as bad as I feared. Everything should be explained to you and hopefully you’ll feel like you are in really good hands and it will be over before you know it. One thing I have found really helpful is the ‘Mindful IVF’ app. Used it for the first time on my last cycle and it definitely helped me to feel more calm and less anxious. There are specific sections to listen to at each point of the process (e.g. ‘night before egg collection’, ‘day of egg collection’). Best of luck lovely xx

Good luck to you too. Can I ask you a question, do u need a full bladder for egg retrieval? I am so confused, I have been told to drink a 250ml glass of water at 7am, so does this mean I can pass water up until 7am? I am going in at 8am for procedure at 9.30am xx

You are not allowed to drink and eat after 12 midnight because of the sedation. You will need to empty your bladder just before the procedure. I had my EC yesterday, don’t be afraid, try to calm down... take a deep breath and don’t think about it too much. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you 🤞 good luck tomorrow 😉

Thank you. It is all confusing as it’s different for the different procedures! I have always been asked to have an empty bladder for egg collection. My procedure is at 9am and I am not allowed to have anything to eat or drink after midnight tonight. Perhaps your clinic are just a little less strict with the water xx

Thank you. I think I ll just go with a full bladder and then if they ll tell me otherwise, I can just go then. Xx

Sounds like there are a few of us having egg collections on the same day. I am also having mine today and am a bit nervous. Never even had a canula before. Afraid of needles but ivf has helped some of that.

Hope everything goes well. Just think in a few hours this bit will be done. Much love and hugs xxxx

Good luck with your egg collection! You don’t need a full bladder, that’s for embryo transfer. Are you having light sedation or general anaesthetic? I had light sedation for all 3 of my egg collections so was awake and could hear everything and felt tugging but I was in a dreamy kind of drunk relaxed state. It doesn’t take very long and I felt fine after and recovered very quickly, even going for a curry that evening with my family after my last collection! X
