Racing heart and shortness of breath

Hello

I’ve been having shortness of breath for a week or so now. Today I’m feeling a slight raised heartbeat. I called the nurse and was told to go into A&E. I felt that she said that because she was unsure of how serious it is.

Have any of you ladies experienced these symptoms while on Estrogen, progesterone and blood thinners.

I feel silly going into A&E but then I don’t want to ignore the symptoms in case.

Would really appreciate it if you can share any experiences you may have had.

I’ve done oestrogen and progesterone without the symptoms you describe but I’m just about to start blood thinners for my fet.... hoping this isn’t the cause of your racing heart etc, it doesn’t sound very nice. Perhaps ring your GP? Let us know how you get on xx

Thank you. I think it must have to do with that specially since I’m on 2 different types. I just checked my blood pressure and it’s slightly high...

I had the heart racing but had just chalked it up to feeling anxious during the 2ww and I was on all three. I found when I focused on my breathing and made myself relax or went for a walk it got better. But I don’t know what the cause was?

I would go see the doctor as yours is also accompanied with your breath, just to be safe. I hope you feel better xx

Thanks Smang. I also had something similar with my failed cycle but that was much milder and felt more like butterflies in my tummy rather than full on heart palpitation.

If when you measure your pulse rate it is high, then it is definitely worth going to A&E. They will be able to check your oxygen levels etc. Make sure you tell them that you are on IVF hormones. You won’t be wasting anyone’s time :)

Thank you Zoe. My heart rate is normal, around 80 per minute. I'm concerned that my blood pressure is on the border (high). When I did my progesterone test 7 dpt, I was told my blood looks too thin and had to redo the test. I wonder if all of these are related.

Hey IMaman are you still in 2WW? I have had racing heartbeat for both my pregnancies. On the last one it started about week 8 and had nothing to do with progesterone (as I came off it after 2 weeks). This one I had 2 embies put in and my heart rate has been racing since week 3/4 (I'm currently 6 weeks). Would love to think it's working harder cos the both of them are still in there, but might be wishful thinking! It feels normal for me as I can feel my pulse in my belly which I'm hoping is a good sign. I asked the midwife last time and said it was not common but does happen and not to worry. If it's all the time, then I would get it checked out obviously if you're worried speak them anyway. Heart palpitations can happen, and they can give you something for it if you want. I'm choosing to see it through without meds. Hope you feel ok otherwise xx

Hi Lilli, First of all thank you for your very thorough response. Yes I'm still in the two weeks wait, with 3 more days to go. Congratulation on your pregnancy! If twins is what you want, then I really hope that your theory is correct ;) I have also put two back in, one a 6 day blasto and the other 5.

To be honest I can't tell if it's all the time or not, as it's mixed with feeling very full all the time, no matter how much I eat. The sensations are all quite confusing.

I have decided to hold out till the morning and call my GP then if I'm still feeling the same.

Oh yes I would definitely say my heart races more after a meal (especially in the evening - more food probably!) and plus I don't know why but I am eating loads more but losing weight, not a bad thing but worried it will stop and I will continue to eat loads and get fat, ha ha 😁 I wonder if all connected. Last time my racing heart was so bad it kept me awake at night. Good idea to contact your GP, just take it easy til then xx
