Well, its been a while since I've posted but I'm getting in the whole IVF game again. Can't say I'm thrilled.
The next step is egg donation and we've probably decided on Spain for a few reasons. Just wondered if anyone had any good recommendations which you could message me about.
The other thing is that we will have to co-ordinate treatment with being back in Europe. How easy is it to plan ahead for these things (knowing all the randomness of IVF).

Hey, welcome back! So Ive also moved onto donor eggs. The planning isnt maybe as easy as I'd thought but that's more to do with my daft body than anything and I seem to have lining issues. Im not doing treatment in Spain but still flying over to Europe. The clinic use the pill mainly to control your cycle and they still do the down regulation thing so they are in full control. There is the option to visit and freeze a sperm sample to be used when the donor eggs are ready, do a fresh transfer or freeze the embryos for transfer at a later date. We chose to go straight out to do a fresh cycle and spend a 11 nights out in Greece however my lining was too think for transfer (I had scans to check it but it shrunk by the time I got there) so we ended up having to freeze the embryos and go back. However all in all it was pretty easy and have since done a transfer although no bfp as yet. Still was worth the saving of doing things in the UK.xx
I’ve also had lining issues in the past which wasn’t a problem doing a fet. We’re aiming to possibly be back for around a month so hopefully that will be long enough for some flexibility.
Im sure that'll work just fine, a month is a good amount of time to play with. You only really need a few weeks even if things arent going straight to plan! Best of luck and thank you!xx
I have done DE in Spain. I had a linked clinic in the UK where I could organise medication, scans etc.or you can look for clinics where you pay as you go.
We had a fresh DE round and had to be in Spain for over a week. We were lucky and managed to get a number of embryos to 5 day blasto stage. We had a fresh transfer and got a BFP. Unfortunately we miscarried. We had 5 embryos in the freezer and have gone through 2 FETs (BFN).
The process is a lot easier on your body. Generally a pill cycle followed by a mock cycle or a real cycle. Basically on oestrogen and progesterone but without having to go through stimulation and egg collection.
I know that feeling- it is nice to nice to have a break. To be honest it was too upsetting to keep trying and get the same result after the loss. It is crushing. 🙄
I am awaiting a surgery date for laparoscopy and hysteroscopy with biopsy and removal of endometriosis. Long story! I’m now under a general gynae as well as a fertility doctor.
Next month we go away to Malta, it’s been such a tough few months, going away will do us some good😃
We’re planning on coming back in July so hope to combine it with a trip home to see family and friends (also a good opportunity to avoid a month of the Kiwi winter). Gonna keep up with the gym, pay off some of the previous ivf debt and properly research where we wanna go. X
