Hi Everyone, I am going to Quiron in Barcelona with my partner on Thursday and then we go back once they have a suitable egg donor. Im a little nervous, it's my first time having treatment abroad after 4 failed rounds of IVF in the UK with my own eggs.
Does anyone have any experiences they can share about the process in Spain or with Quiron, especially regarding the drugs I'd need to take ahead of transfer?
Thank you all very much, and sending you lots of good luck with your journeys xx

I did donor egg treatment in Czech Republic and we were really happy with them. I understand it's another factor to worry about but I just wanted to reassure you that going abroad can be a good experience. It might be worth trying to find a Facebook for your clinic. I found it really helpful.
Regarding medication, I had to take the pill for about 2 months to sync my cycle with the donor's. I had to have a decapetyl injection to stop ovulation too. I started taking estrogen a couple of weeks before my donor's collection (it's on a specific cycle day but I can't remember which). I had an internal scan around day 10 (I think) of my cycle to check lining then started progesterone five days before transfer (same day as egg collection and fertilisation).
On day 5, I had a double transfer and have twins thanks to our wonderful donor. Happy to answer any questions. X
We used a different clinic in Spain and similar process to Chloe above. I was given a Zoladex injection/implant a month before to shut down my ovaries and sync my cycle with the donor, then estradiol tablet 3x a day from cycle day 2 and a scan on day 10. We then travelled to Spain a few days later and I took progesterone pessaries twice a day from the donors egg collection day. Transfer on day 5 and I’m now 14 weeks pregnant from first transfer. It was pretty straight forward and seamless, the clinic in Spain advised each step and we had a clinic here for scans and bloods when needed. Good luck with your journey 🤞x
