8 wks scan

Hi, I have an 8 wk scan coming up and on the letter I received it says it’s a vaginal scan! Is this normal or should it be an ultrasound?? Does anyone know? Thanks xx

It can be normal just because they can see more clearly. Tbh if they booked you for abdominal one they'd probably end up doing vaginal one too and to just go straight for vaginal saves time and toilet trips xx good luck at your scan xx

My first scan was internal one too. Think it's quite normal as little one is so tiny they can see better that way. Good luck with the scan xx

I had a vaginal scan at 7 weeks it’s normal at this early stage in pregnancy x

Hi Squeak2. Yes, vaginal is normal, for a clearer view. Usually 12 weeks before abdominal one, maybe a little earlier. You will be fine. They need to measure from your cervix for accurate sizing. Good luck! Diane

They can’t see anything on an abdominal scan until much later so vaginal scan is definitely normal at 8 week scan stage.

I had an abdominal scan at 7 weeks and they saw everything, so it is possible if needs be xx
