Lap and dye Pre op assessment
I had a lap and dye the end of July last year my pre was in the May think u can wait up to 14 weeks for the actual op I used to ring the hospital on a weekly basis to check for cancellations worked in my favour in the end as a cancellation came up and the my rang me because they knew I was keen to ha e it done! The actual pre-op it's self they take swabs to check for MRSA, do a blood test and go through in detail the procedure explaining the risks and pre/post op care and you sign a consent form - it's pretty straight forward really x
Hi Nickimidge. In addition to "Shanks_21" reply, they will explain about fasting and when to start. Also ask about any medication you are on, whether you can still take it. Maybe slippers and dressing gown? Although, you shouldn't have to stay too long afterwards, once you've passed urine and had a drink and toast or something. Good to have someone with you when you get back to the short stay ward, as you're sometimes still a bit drowsy when the doctor tells you what went on. Good luck and hope you don't have to wait too long. Diane
