IVF Abroad

Been a while since I posted anything, after mc last year I haven’t thought about doing another round of ivf and just wanted to get back to ‘normal’

However, I have been thinking about our third round a lot recently and whether or not to try going abroad. I have googled and googled but just can’t get my head around it all. I just need a bit of advice or personal experiences from anyone who has gone abroad?

How does the ivf process work abroad? Do you start treatment in the uk first then fly over when ready for EC? How long are you abroad for? Any info or advise would really help 😊

Cant give any advice as dont know but thinkin of it also so looking forward to hearing others advice. Good luck on your decision. If u send me e-mail i will send you reply to my enquiry from gennet clinic in prague. Its a popular choice and cheap but hotels they suggest in e-mail seem quite pricey.

Hi, we went to Cyprus for our last round. You can go for the whole thing if you like but most people start stims over here (drugs were posted to us) then you are away for about a week. We ended up staying a couple of days more as my eggs weren't quite ready and I needed two more day stims. They really looked after us, picked us up from airport, picked us up from hotel and took us to clinic when needed. There are brilliant international coordinators. It isn't the same as the UK for sure but we had a really good experience. Feel free to PM me if you want more info.

We went to Norway: yes, we went there for a day and the doctor visited us and gave us a medication plan. We did everything here (suppression, stimulation, follicles growth monitoring), then flew back to Oslo a few days before the trigger, so the clinic could check the follicles growth. We had EC there, ICSI, and after two days there were 3 embryos! 2 were transferred on day 2, one was grown to blastocyst and frozen.

The fresh transfer didn't work, but the frozen one did, and now I'm 15 weeks pregnant :)

Good luck!

Congratulations 😊 glad it’s all worked out for you 💖 I never even looked at Norway but will do some more research. It’s all a little confusing and I’m trying to get my head round all the info x

We went abroad but it was for DE so a little different. However I had to have scans in this country to monitor my lining....it would be pretty much the same for you but to monitor your follicles and fly out on their say so. You would probably have to go out there for a minimum of 10 days to cover egg collection and to get to 5 day blastocyst stage with a couple of days extra either side. If you have settled on a clinic/country it might be worth while emailing them to get some information....they will be used to explaining this to patients going abroad!

Lovely to hear from you, I was wondering how your were doing!💕xx

I’ve been looking online for a while but I find it all so confusing. I think I might do what you said and email a couple I like the look of and go from there, not sure how much cheaper it will be after flights and accommodation.

Hope you’re doing ok 😊 x

Have a look at flights to get a general idea of costs. We used air bnb when we were away which has been great too in keeping the costs down. If you've any questions you think I can help with then PM me.xx
