We are at a bit of a cross road with our treatment.. we have done 1 cycle through a private clinic which didn't result in a fresh egg pregnancy, but I have 3 frosties. Today we FINALLY got our first appointment with the NHS funded clinic and they have told me I should keep the frosties on ice and do another full round with them. I was actually all set to go a round of FET but now I am confused.
About my frosties: there are 3, 2 of them are grade 3 and 1 of them is grade 4. I don't know any more than that. This NHS clinic say they wouldn't have frozen a grade 3. They also said they would use Menopur instead of Gonal F as it gives better quality eggs.
Any advice for me? The NHS clinic is Nuffield at Woking and they have a good rep for success.
Firstly, I'm impressed the NHS will fund a round after you've had a private round - I didn't think they did that - it's great news. I would go with their advice. Your advantage with leaving the 3 Frosties where they are is that if you aren't successful with a fresh cycle you have a fall back plan. If you are successful (fingers crossed) then you could keep your Frosties and go again in a year or two (if you wanted another child) without having to cycle again, plus they'd still be the age you are now, because they're on ice! I would also question whether you would lose NHS funding if you went for a FET now and were unsuccessful. Hope that helps - it's only my opinion though! Good luck with whatever you decide xxx
yes I am not sure if its a regional thing, but the NHS is fine with you trying through them after having private treatment. They were just as friendly and said it was a good thing for them as it gives them information to work with. Thank you for your advice and well wishes xx
I'd go with a fresh cycle, especially if it's funded. Hopefully you'll end up with more embryos to freeze.
We're doing another fresh cycle this time (although we only got the one funded cycle) even though we had 2 frosties. They didn't quite get the meds right so despite having plenty of follicles, they were all of varying sizes. I'm hoping that this time round, with a few changes, I'll have a few more to put 'on ice' and of good quality. Good luck with your decision
I agree I would go with their advise as well hun just to let you know I had my treatment( NHS funded) at Woking Nuffield and I have nothing but good things to say about them feel free to PM me if have any questions wishing you all the best xx
Hi Indymoon. I would trust their advice. Your stored embies will be quite safe and waiting for you later. While you have the chance on the NHS, I would go for it, just in case their funding decisions change - you never know. Good luck with whatever you decide. Diane
