Have my first IVF consultation tomorrow off the NHS just wondering what I can expect? What questions and tests and do I need to take anything with me? Any information will be wonderful thankyou

What to expect?
Hey, when I had my first apt they took all mine and Hubby's history. Our dr has already arranged for Hubby to have had his semen analysed but I was sent for some more tests before our next apt. Wishing you lots of luck for tomorrow x
Thankyou so much! What kind of history? Health or? X
Yeah both our health and just confirmed how long we'd been trying, any previous pregnancies or children with current of previous partner x
Ok, that's brilliant thankyou so much for your help x
That's okay, id think tomorrow will be mostly talking although I know every clinic is different. I saw your other post regarding a smear - don't worry I hadn't had a smear at the time either as was to young x
Ah brilliant, trying to think of everything x
Hi Katie208, you must be feeling excited and apprehensive about your appointment tomorrow, I hope it goes well! My husband & I had our 'top of the list' IVF appointment in July. It lasted for about half an hour and involved me having some blood tests to check my AMH and for Hep B, Hep C and HIV. I then had two swabs to check for infection. The nurse also did another smoking test and took both my husband and I's height and weight. She then briefly went through the various consent forms we need to fill out and gave us them all to take home and complete. We were then given another appointment for a follow-up in 5 weeks time (couldn't believe it was another 5 weeks - hopefully yours will be sooner!). The next appointment lasts for an hour and is with the consultant who will tell us what protocol I will be following and my start date.
I phoned my clinic the morning of my appointment and asked if I needed to take anything with me. They asked me to take photographic ID (passport or driving license - for your husband/partner too) and a copy of my latest smear which I got from my GP. I also asked my GP to print my rubella results to show I was immune. Maybe worth giving them a quick ring in the morning as I know all clinics are different.
Hope that helps and best of luck! 🍀 Xx
Yeah that helps an awful lot! Thankyou so much! I've had swabs and blood tests and things, they said I needed this done before my first consultation will I have to have them all again? I haven't had a smear either in only 20 years of age. I am very nervous but excited. I will deffinatley give them a ring in the morning thankyou so much again x
I had already had blood tests and scans/swabs at the infertility clinic last year but they did more when I went to the IVF clinic - maybe because I had them done a while ago. Your clinic might be different though! I'll be thinking about you tomorrow. Xx
