So was in for my scan today after 10 days of injections. I guess I just thought it would go like it did last time and egg collection be Monday but it seems I have fewer follicles this time and have to keep taking injections and go back Monday unless they call me today. Feeling fed up as I did everything right this time and I so had hoped for a better result now at the first hurdle I feel a bit deflated. Ahhhhh seems maybe 4 months older with my old and few eggs that the hospital keep reminding me of is perhaps the issue so think I will just eat cream eggs today!!! Also darm nurse kept putting dildo cam in wrong place if you know what I mean..ouch..twice!!!! Oh well got to see funny side I suppose and hope for lots of follicle growth this weekend..is anyone aware of any magical food or activity to make them grow or things to avoid..will try anything..within reason..happy Friday to you all out there anyway..off to eat chocolate eggs xxxxx

Fed up
Hi vic77. I can understand your concerns, but it’s amazing what changes can occur with a few more days of meds. A good diet to have at this time consists of variety, however, I have listed some of the “good” things to have: Carbohydrates - Wholegrain bread and wholemeal pasta, oatmeal, brown rice. All fresh vegetables especially raw or steamed. Over boiling rids them of vitamins and minerals, pineapple juice, apricots, potatoes, all fruit and honey, beans, chickpeas and lentils. Protein - Organic meat if possible, poultry, fish, Milk and hard cheese, nuts and seeds. Fat - Extra virgin olive oil and sunflower oil, avocado and peanut butter, mackerel, sardines, nuts (especially Brazil and walnuts), seeds, sweet corn and sweet potatoes. The things to avoid are too much sugar, processed foods, ready meals, butter, ice cream etc. A little is OK, but not all the time. Drink plenty of water and only a little tea and coffee if feeling deprived. Cut right down or right out – alcohol and smoking. Oh and don’t forget the Folic Acid! Hope this helps and all the best. Diane
Thanks so much DianeArnold . I always really value your advice. So was all set when I saw your message and thought yup a couple more days may make all the difference to get a call there asking me to come in for a scan tomorrow morning now..surely 24 hours won't make that much difference??? What a roller coaster this all is..thanks for all the food tips although I really fancy a glass of wine now 😩😜xx
Thinking of you. Enjoy your chocolate. I was so strict with my diet first time around. Followed all the guidelines and I was miserable. Still didn't work (as you know) Relax a little, have a little of what you fancy. Life's too short! 😊 x
Thanks mrs would kill for a glass of vino..actually found a really nice non alcoholic one so may treat myself to a glass tonight with my chocolate😜got a call from hospital and now to go in again tomorrow for another scan..oh the joys xx
Hey vic77. Sorry to hear that you're fed up, down days are to be expected but they are still pretty cr@p! Your nurse doesnt sound like she was the most careful either, what on earth....Im suprised you didnt jump off the table! Ha ha ha I just wanted to say keep your chin up, from my experience quite a lot can happen in a few days with the scans, mine changed fairly significantly in just a few days so there is still time! Have a treat night, have a nice warm bath, get some cosy socks on (my accupunturist thinks warm feet are important), pour yourself a glass of your non alcoholic wine, line those cream eggs up and try to find something good on the box! I was also told that a hot water bottle can help, I did this but recently read a post that it wasnt a good idea so the jury is out on that one! Hopefully your scan will show some change tomorrow and at least they are keeping a close eye on you even if it does mean extra scans!! Fingers crossed its a different nurse scanning tomorrow too!xx
Ohmigoodness Vic! Is it wrong that your post make me smile? I mean, dildo can?! Hahaha that's brilliant!! On a serious note I'm so sorry it didn't go to plan. That happened to me last time and I was sure it would this time. A part of me wishes they'd let me stim the extra two days as it doubled my follicles last time. I hope this is the case for you too. Try to stay positive my love, they're doing this to give you the best possible chance but I understand how frustrating it is. Enjoy that chocolate egg, drink plenty or water and try to relax the best you can. Fingers crossed for Monday x x x
Lol..love that it made you smile..you sure need a sense of humour through all this.. I couldn't quite believe this nurse to be honest she was so blaze about it the first time when yes I nearly left up from the bed to then do it again a 2nd time😧it was only 8am and she was going on about morning drinking..maybe she had had one or two and her eyesight a bit blurry..lol. I am hoping now for miracle growth in 24 hours😀xx
Hey I was told in January that my follicles were not growing as they should have been and they kept mentioning things about cancelling the cycle. I got two more days of meds and felt rather depressed thinking my follies would not have enough time for a growth spur. I however upped my protein intake, kept my tummy warm, drank lots of milk and rested, and voila, they increased nearly double in size within 48hours! Don't give up yet and good luck! xoxo
Aw Vic, I fully sympathise with you, was in a similar position myself recently but we're all so different, anything can happen and amazing growth can be achieved in a short time so don't lose hope lovely! And "dildo cam"! Haha. Love it! I call one of our nurses "mega drive" cos she's like a hardcore gamer with a joystick with that thing - brutal! Lol.😂. Good luck for the next few days and enjoy your cream egg xxx
Back in tomorrow now so who knows..hoping chocolate leads to miracle 24 hour growth😀love your nurses nickname..think I will make some for ours..her name would be too rude to put on here tho😜xx
Good luck for today Vic. Hope you've had the growth you were hoping for! And I think we'd all love to hear your nurses nick name, we could do.with a laugh! 😂 xx
Ah how frustrating for you vic. Hopefully the follow up scan tomorrow means they're being thorough and exploring all avenues... apparently including with the dildo cam 😂😂 xx
Keep positive lovely and enjoy all that chocolate! Had to laugh at the 'dildo' comment. I called it a 'penis probe' to someone earlier who I took into my confidence!!!! Xxx
Sorry to hear things aren't moving as expected. I hope you enjoy some cream eggs and are being egg..stra nice to yourself he he. Ive read a hot water bottle can help with blood flow to the area
I had to go an extra 4 days after being told my follicles were too small, I was so upset that things went off plan, however it worked in my favour I feel. I had 13 eggs collected and 11 of which have fertilised! Waiting for a call tomorrow to see how they are doing and whether transfer will be day 3 or 5.
I don't think there is any magic do's and donts. If you want it, have it. Stressing too much will be good for no one.
Good luck, you have earnt those chocolate eggs x
Aww vic77! I'm worried about this too as I'll be 9months older than last time, and hopefully start stimming after my baseline scan next fri. Quality not quantity as they say and let's hope that's the result for us both....but your post did make me laugh as I'm a cream egg addict too! Haha! Goodluck for next week 🍀Xx
ah bless u hun - a couple of days could make all the difference!! good luck for monday and enjoy the chocolate eggs!!xxx

Hi Vicky. Hope this gets to you, for some reason I can't get my PMs to work! Sorry for the late reply, been so busy! Basically, Fostimon is derived from a human source and Gonal-F is “artificial”. I have seen Fostimon used in conjunction with Menopur more and more, and seems to be a specialist’s preferred choice, probably because its “natural”. As you probably know a long protocol, shuts off your ovulation and ovary action and shrinks the lining of your womb to look out for any cysts and fibroids etc. If all is OK then you start stimulating drugs etc. A short protocol is often used with slightly reduced fertility, so you go straight into stimulation with a little bit of down regulation, so that you don’t over stimulate. Hopefully, this gives your ovaries a better chance to produce follicles straight away. ICSI is usually reserved for couples who have a problem with sperm count, motility and morphology. It is sometimes used when IVF has failed a few times, and also if eggs collected have not fertilised properly when the sperm is left to its own devices. I may have already sent them to you, but if not, I have a couple of lists of questions you might like to look through before you back for a follow up consultation. Too long to add here, but if you email me in confidence to support@fertilitynetworkuk.org I will send them to you. Hope this helps and hasn’t confused you further. Diane
Thank you so so much Diana such helpful information. What do you mean by slightly reduced fertility in relation to short protocol? I have your helpful questions and used them last time which was great sadly just feel my list is getting longer and longer kind of now feeling like just choosing a clinic and trust then to decide what is best but your response helped clear up fostimon xx
