Thanks for your reply, I'm 12 weeks now, so was wondering how long I need to take them.

I had progesterone pessaries and I took them twice daily from EC until I was 12 weeks pregnant. My cycle was NHS funded and my clinic said I should stop using them once I reached 7 weeks but I decided I wanted to continue until 12 weeks (following my own research and advice on here). My clinic agreed but I had to pay for them from week 7 onwards.

Thanks for your reply, I have just had my 12 week scan, and my clinic said 7 weeks, but I wanted to carry on till 12 weeks. If you don't mind me asking how far along are you now? X

hi I was prescribed progesterone with IVF anyway but was advised by doctors to keep taking it until 12 weeks pregnant as your body is meant to kick in and produce it from the placenta , with a history of miscarriage's behind me I was very paranoid and I kept taking it until I was 27 weeks pregnant I really believe in the power of progesterone it has no side effects yes its a bit messy and stuff but I really think it was key to me getting my rainbow baby boy. I actually had my baby at 28 weeks pregnant and even though they said they do not know the cause I truly believe it was because I had stopped the progesterone maybe my body does not produce enough but it really helps keep a pregnancy intact from what I read up on.

good luck xx

Hi Herrys, I recently lost a baby at 13 weeks after stopping oestrogen and progesterone at 12 weeks. Low hormone levels is the cause of my infertility so I definitely think this played a huge part in me losing the baby. I have my follow up appointment is next week and if I'm lucky enough to get pregnant again I'd like to take the hormone supplement throughout my whole pregnancy. Did you have to put up a fight to get these? I don't mind if I have to pay for them x

I had no problem getting them prescribed as doctors said no harm can come of it x
