Progesterone pessaries?

Hi everyone, hope you are all well. I have been told I can take my pessaries either front or back. Is one more effective than the other? Can I alternate? TIA xxx

I remember when I was first given them, they said you can do both ways/change as sometimes you can get side effects and by changing can help to avoid them further.

They are messy. I've heard that using them the back way is less messy though..

I've only done them at the front and they weren't as messy as I'd expected. On previous rounds I had injections and pessaries are preferable to them! Panty pads have taken care of the small amount of mess.

Hi Lily-white. The drug progesterone when administered via the vagina or the rectum, is absorbed by the mucus membrane lining. It really doesn't matter which way you use them, both ways if you want. The amount you need will be absorbed within 20-30 minutes of insertion and the "waxy" stuff that leaks out is just whats left of the pessary. good luck! Diane

If you can lie down for 15 minutes after using them it helps to make sure they absorb. I managed this by applying first thing in morning (after loo) at 7am and then about 7pm and lying down both times. Use sanitary towels as panty liners were not enough (TMI) sorry.
