Hey Hun, my cousins also had both tubes blocked and she was able to conceive by ivf and then again naturally I myself am going through ivf
Has anyone mentioned this as an option to you x
Hi Angel,
I also had both my tubes blocked. I totally know how you feel! It devasting. I had no symptoms at all, only that I wasn't falling pregnant.
I think if they not badly damaged the tubes can be flushed and unblocked. But that wasn't the case for mine. Mines were hydrophinx so couldn't be repaired. My advise would be to get them removed if they are badly damaged before moving on to Ivf, as liquid coming from the damaged tubes can be bad for implanted embryos.
After I had my tubes removed, I had ivf and now have a gorgeous baby girl 😀, so there is light at the end.
Good luck and I hope you get you appointment soon.
Jx
Thanks guys!
Really appreciate your comments-am waiting of referral to Gynaecologist, but want to gather as much info so I can get as much out of the apt that I can!
So I can make sure I know exactly what my options are. Working on tight timescales as I was 40 a few months ago...

Hi Angel-face. So sorry to hear this, as it does seem as if IVF will the best option for you. Don't know where your tubes are blocked, but if they are scarred, trying micro-surgery to try and repair them may not be an option. It is an abdominal operation with quite a long recovery time, with no guarantee of it working. It could be that your tubes are blocked at the open end, a condition called "hydrosalpinx". Not too sure if you know about this condition, so I will cover it as best I can, with apologies if you already know some of it. The name “hydrosalpinx”, when translated, simply means water in the tube! Fallopian tubes have a natural lubrication in them to allow sperm to swim and the egg to travel down. Occasionally, the end of the tube(s) called “fimbriae” can stick together. This then blocks the “exit” for excess fluid to escape. There is then only one way out for this fluid and that is through the womb end of the tube. Many consultants now believe that this excess of fluid can prevent implantation of a developing embryo, as it can be “washed” out. Because of this the tube is often dealt with in one of three ways prior to treatment. The whole tube can be removed, the end section (blocked) end can be removed, or clipped. Hope this explains things for you, and let's hope you can get a correct diagnosis soon and can move forward with treatment. Thinking of you. Diane
