Hi ladies I've got the scratch today and getting myself worked up. Heard so many stories some saying it's nothing much to other saying it's really nasty! Can some one give me possitive words please! I've got porridge ready to eat then paracetamol and ibuprofen! X

Hi Blondyboo. I think that any procedure can cause anxiety, which is quite understandable. The procedure is not painful, but you may experience a little discomfort. It is much the same as having embryo transfer, and is often followed by slight bleeding afterwards. You will most probably be prescribed a course of antibiotics to take afterwards, to ensure you don’t get any infection. It is quite safe to take some paracetamol, should you feel any discomfort afterwards. I’m sure you will be fine, and I do hope it all goes OK for you. Diane

I know how you feel as I have mine tomorrow and I am dreading it X

Hi, I had mine a few weeks ago and it was seriously nothing to worry about. Only had a couple of period like pains during the procedure which only lasted a few seconds and it was over in no time. I know everyone is different but I think it's worked up to be a lot worse than it actually is. Good luck!xx

Nothing to worry about. It's slightly uncomfortable, similar to a smear test. But you won't have any pain after, it only last about 20 secs and then done. And if it helps then a few secs of being uncomfortable is totally worth it. You'll be fine, it's just fear of the unknown. Good luck! x

Well i wish I could agree with you! I found it quite painful and it lasts for a couple of minutes as she scratches. I thought I was one scratch i didnt realise they scratch for 1-2 minutes?! As soon as she stopped the pain went but it took me by surprise i can tell you! Hope I dont ever need it again! more bleeding than I thought too after, still spotting today but feel fine just slightly crampy. Maybe I had a bit of a butcher doing it?!

I was exactly the same so its not just you....then again I maybe had a butcher doing it too! Ha ha ha I was a bit shocked at the pain and how long it lasted but once it was over then it was ok! In saying that Im planning to do it again! Hopefully you arent having too many ill effects!x

oh good glad it wasn't just me! the doctor did say i actually coped really well with the pain?! i certainly let out a grown when she started scratching! as we walked out I said I would never do it again but now its over ... I might...! hoping not too though!!! xx

How did you get on? xxx

I think I was one of the lucky ones as it wasnt bad at all, slightly uncomfortable but not painful at all X

no you dont need full bladder. just keep in mind it doesn't last for long! just take a deep breath and think of England!! as soon as she stops the pain stops. I didnt tell her to stop so it wasn't unbarable..... but i wasn't prepared and it shocked me. Think of strong period pain but goes on for a minute or so! They put you at rest talking you through it so you know as its happening.. she was asking me stupid questions about what was my first pet to try and distract me! by the looks of it not everyone has it as 'bad' so you might be a lucky one that it doesnt hurt much! just remember if it hurts its over very soon! - you will be fine honest xx
