I have one normal coffee first thing and then maybe 2 decaf coffees in morning then a tea in afternoon ( sometimes not always though) and then a tea in the evening .
Do you think this is too much ?

The UK guidelines are 200mg of caffeine aday is fine. I believe this is equivalent to 2 coffees so you should be fine.
Other countries recommend a much lower dose & my clinic recommended none for me.
If you are a chocolate lover like me then this also contains caffiene so you might want to research how much is in everything you eat & drink & decide from there. x
I've gone decaff. It's not that bad. I think in the last 4 weeks I've had 4 normal coffees. By accident! And I've not even started treatment yet! When I get our next appointment letter, I'm thinking of giving the decaff up. I read in West's book that the chemicals they use to detract caffeine aren't that great either. Mind you. At that rate, I'd probably be surviving on water and air! Poochi's comments seem sensible. x
I think that's within 200mg based on the NHS page, but my consultant said one or two cups a day is best. I'm currently struggling along with one real tea and one decaf tea or coffee a day.
I feel your pain, definitely! I've basically dropped out of all social events because I've cut out fizzy drinks, even diet, and don't want too much sugar from fruit juice. There's only so much lime and soda I can drink in a day!
Do what feels right for you. I've cut caffiene completely but then I didn't drink much of it to start with. I Have maybe 3 or 4 decaf teas a week but because of chemicals used in the decaf process best not to replace all with decaf. Try herbal instead or just water. I have hot water in the morning with a squeeze of lemon and sliced raw ginger. It all takes some getting used to and isn't exactly like the hedonistic carefree uni days I used to love (booze, sugar, caffiene aplenty) but remember it's all worth it and what it's for! X
I think the recommendation to cut back on caffeine is because it raises your heart rate which wouldn't be good for baby. I have a heart rate checker app that I used to see if it did affect heart rate but it didn't seem to. I cut out coffee but kept up my tea habit. I limit it to 2-3 cups a day and have some herbal teas as well. I cut it for a few days but got headaches so went back on it. I feel like I deprive myself of enough things during pregnancy, I need one or two treats!
Midwives recommend no caffeine at all as it is linked to miscarriage. If you can, quit now before you get pregnant and switch to decaf. You'll feel rubbish for a couple of days but then you'll be fine. And better not to leave it until early pregnancy when you feel so tired you would do anything for an espresso!
