Hello, does anyone know the answer to this question - I’m puzzled...
So I was on the pill and have recently started down regulation injections. Just before starting injections I had a scan that showed all was quiet and wall lining thin. I also had a scratch, not nice but it was fine. Now I’m having a withdrawal bleed from the down regulation - all normal as the nurses tell you this will happen. BUT my question is, if at scan my lining was thin and I’ve had a scratch, where is the blood coming from for the withdrawal bleed???
And was it worth having a scratch at that point if I was going to bleed anyway?
I will ask my consultant but wondered if anyone else knew the answer?
Thanks!

The scratch is believed to purely set a repair motion in place, the womb works hard to repair the damage done by the scratch and the theory is that it makes your lining more receptive in the process. It’s essentially a small biopsy. It’s not to empty your lining. I hope this helps xx
Although some spotting is common after the scratch it’s the down regulation process that causes bleeding not the scratch itself. The shedding of any lining now won’t have any effect on the repair motion set in place by the scratch. I hope I’m making sense? If not pm DianeArnold who is brilliant with advice xx
This is just a guess but you start down the drugs on D21 of cycle right? so even though lining is thin there may still be something there that built up between end of period and the start of drugs...????
