Nervous about egg collection

So my eggs collection is booked for Monday morning I'm so scared about it, so unsure of how much you feel when sedated and the fact that in petrified of needles I think injecting myself has actually made me more nervous about them I'm dreading the needle in the back of my hand 😢

Does anyone have any wise words to calm my nerves

I swear to god you will feel absolutely nothing during the procedure!!!!

This was my second egg collection and it was far less painful afterwards although I've had some pain, it's really not the worst thing in the world and now I'm just uncomfortable and a bit achy, chilling out to try calm my body for transfer tomorrow all being well with my embie. It depends from person to person. The woman in the add next to me had 0 pain I kid you not and she was nervous as hell beforehand and had a real needle phobia so much that she's cried and shook over every injection for the treatment. For every pain, twinge and hormonal outburst I have I keep telling my other half, it's nothing in comparison to labour, so in grand scheme of things it's not so bad lol, this is hopefully the start of something amazing for us both hun. I didn't feel a think either. I slept through most of it, but even when I woke up a little in the middle I still didn't feel anything. When I woke up I heard them saying there were no eggs and internally started to panic but I must have fallen asleep again (or was dreaming) as the next thing I knew I was in recovery and they had 10 eggs from 15 follicles (so maybe there just wasn't an egg in the follicle that they were trying to get to at the point I woke up!). Good luck with it all - I'm sure you'll be fine!

I was so nervous before EC as I'd read stories on here saying that it was painful but I really didn't feel that bad at all. Paracetamol was sufficient to cover the pain afterwards and the sedation made me sleep through most of the procedure. Please don't worry. I hate needles too but most nurses are very good at making it as painless as possible. Good luck and try not to stress xx

I didn't really find the procedure too bad at all! I've had 2 egg collections and I was out for both of them, when I woke up slightly uncomfortable but nothing even as serious as a period pain! You'll be just fine, try and relax x

Thank you for everyone experience it's made me feel a little less concerned at the thought of it. Just need to get threw the weekend then it will be all over 😊 hopefully with a good outcome at the end of it.

Hey don't be nervous, I had my EC today morning and it was fine. They knocked me before EC and I directly found myself in recovery room with slight discomfirt. The only horrific part I found about EC was waiting time till they come back to you with the number of eggs they have retrieved. xxx
