Hi just looking to see if anybody's husbands/partners have been given supplement advice, unfortunately hubby's sperm movility deteriorated drastically over last few years I have read Vit C, Vit D, Folic Acid recommended for improved quality what do people think and what have you all been told?
You can buy pre-conception vitamins for men as well as women. Try Boots or you local health food shop. My husband also took Proxeed Plus, it's recommended by some fertility clinics and is supposed to improve sperm development and reproductive health in men, it's not the cheapest item on the market but I was lucky enough to buy it at the Fertility show in London and got 3 boxes half price.
Hi mystie121. A good quality multivitamin tablet specifically for men is recommened. Zinc 40 mgs a day and selenium 100-150mcg a day can improve the motility in sperm. Caffeine consumption has also been linked with problems with sperm count and sperm motility which is the sperms ability to swim in the seminal fluid. Sources of caffeine that should be avoided include coffee, tea, some cola based soft drinks and chocolate. A diet high in selenium and zinc (previously mentioned) will help to produce good quality sperm as zinc is an important component in building sperm. Good sources of zinc include dairy products, nuts – especially Brazil nuts and seeds. Vitamins C and E are also known for their benefits as vitamin E is thought to help sperm to be more potent. Vitamin C is known for its protective qualities at preventing the DNA in sperm from becoming damaged. Vitamin E is found in avocados, sweet potatoes, sprouts and tomatoes. Good sources of vitamin C are kiwis, strawberries, oranges and broccoli. Regular intercourse is also recommended to encourage “manufacture” of new sperm. Hope this helps. Diane
Thank you Diane I will invest in all you recommended, can I ask if you have came across Agnus Castus herbal remedy I am taking tablet form 1000mcg worked brilliantly for pmt symptoms (mine were very severe) but also recommend for regulating cycle as I have very irregular periods 34 to 72 days?

As far as I know it is safe to take. However, best to avoid it during treatment as it can interact with fertility drugs. Diane

Hi mistie121. i was at home using my little iPad when I answered you - back at work, so thought I would reply more fully for you. Agnus Cactus has been known to help regulate menstrual cycles, although it is not proven. It is sometimes recommended to those who suffer badly with PMT as it is believed to regulate prolactin levels, and has been known to relieve breast tenderness associated with PMT. Prolactin is produced by the pituitary gland in the brain, and some women who take agnus cactus do suffer from headaches. It is not recommended to be taken when going through infertility treatment cycles as it can interact with the drugs given. If you do decide to take it, I would take the smallest dose that suits you and just during the first half of your menstrual cycle. You should definitely stop taking it when you become pregnant, as it is believed it can cause miscarriage. See what your GP/consultant says. Hope this helps. Diane
Thank you Diane I waited till I got a period so I could have all my bloods taken then I started it on day 4 minimum dose, I have felt great none of the pmt symptoms at all and I started another period on day 30 which is great and half my infertility battle if I can regulate my cycle ! Do you mean I should only take it until ovulation? as I've used it continuously ?
