Injection Tips!?!
Oh I was exactly the same when I first started but once you've done it a few times you'll be a dab hand at it. The only tips I can give you is to make sure you pinch before you inject and rub the area immediately afterwards. It also helps while you're injecting to think of the reason why you're doing it π. Good luck π x x
As noodles says you'll soon be a dab hand. Remember to pinch before injecting and to release before pulling needle out. The needles used as really fine and don't really hurt. I found I could only do it on the right hand side of my tummy so just tried to use a different area each day.
My top tips are: Don't try to do it whilst you're watching something funny, don't s tab it in too hard or push the plunger in too quick! I got hubby to mix up the dose and then put the fine needle on.
Good luck!
Ooh hi Kateamelia, I had my injection training yesterday too! Did they let you inject yourself (with a new sterile, empty syringe)? I really found that as soon as I did that and realised I literally couldn't feel anything (and made my husband try it too π) I was fine. It was slightly overwhelming with all the info but my husband was listening very intently too and we have all the instructions coming with the drugs so I'm sure we'll work it out...! I don't start the short protocol until we return from hols in mid September but it really feels like everything is starting to happen now... Exciting! x
Hi pennyprimrose, I didn't even get to touch the needle, they literally just showed me. My hubby is type 1 diabetic so I think they only did a brief session as he has used them before. It's a very strange feeling, wanting it all to start but at the same time once it starts you have to face up to the possibility of it not working! Thanks for replying π good luck π x
Oh it's a shame they didn't let you have a go as that really put my mind at rest, it was honestly completely painless. Thats good that your hub is familiar with needles as he can always help you if you have a freak out! I know what you mean, all the possible outcomes become a bit more real now this stage has happened. We're just trying to stay really positive and not think about it all too much. Trying to just cross every bridge when we get to them, it is hard though isn't it there's no denying that! Good luck with it all! Xx
U'll be fine... I promise!!! I was terrified and balled my eyes out the morning I started, was all I could think about all day but before u know u start feeling like a qualified nurse and u pop it in without a second thought!!
Good luck!!πππ xx
Hi, you'll be fine but my 1 bit of advice would be to do it sat down and with someone with you for the first couple. I stupidly did mine standing up and fainted right after taking the needle out. Luckily hubby was there to catch me! All went ok after that one though x
