Buserelin Injection Tips

Hello

I'll be starting Buserelin Injections on Monday and am petrified! Have a real phobia of needles so this is my worst nightmare and the whole thing is keeping me up at night.

Does anyone have any tips to share? Would really appreciate it.

Thanks so much

:-)

I posted something similar the night before I started. I PROMISE the first time is the worst and now it's second nature. It's very easy to push in and no 'pierce' and more of a slide. Tiny sting and I get hubby to do it and have a sugary drink after as I felt a bit wobbly. Good luck! Xx

hi! try to do them very easy and do not use the wet tissues they provide because they make the skin hard! Goodluck! xxx

I had a practice with an empty syringe, to get over the initial 'push in'. I've the area before and after, it will help with stinging. I had localised reactions to it (hot itchy and like nettle sting) and the icing really helped. Make sure you pinch your skin as you inject and just take it slowly. Good luck, you will be fine xx 🍀🍀

Thank you so so much to you all. I really appreciate your responses.

I read online somewhere that you push needle right in straight and not at an angle - is this true?

Yes, my instructions were to go straight in, not at an angle. Give your clinic a call and check to make sure x

I was the same - I've always had a phobia of needles but after I'd done the first couple I got used to it pretty quickly and don't find it a problem now. Good luck! x

I too was worried about pushing straight in - thought it might pierce something important! But it didn't sting at all and I actually weirdly miss the injections now I have no need for them!! I found that doing it as soon as I woke up, sitting in bed, seemed to work as my body still felt sleepy n relaxed which seemed to mask any potential stinging. I dug my nails in as I pinched so that if the needle did sting I couldn't feel it as it just felt like my own nails! Good luck, you'll be fine xx

Hi PinkHat1. Only just read your post, so I expect you have done your first injection by now. If you find you are really struggling with injecting, then pop and ask your GP for a prescription for some “Emla” cream or similar. This is a local anaesthetic of Lignocaine that you put on in a big “blob”, don’t rub it in, and then cover it with a clear patch (need to ask GP for those too). Leave for 20-30 minutes and wipe off. Result – pain free injections! This cream usually comes in a single dose tube and you squeeze the lot on in a big “gob stopper” lump. No need to suffer! Good luck with it all! Diane

Thank you all again for your words of wisdom.

This morning I finally did my first injection! It took me about 20 minutes to calm down and pick up the courage to actually do it.

Thanks again for all your tips and suggestions, it really helped me a lot.

Xxx
