Had our first IVF consultation today and we begin injections on the 17th April- 3 weeks time!! 😳💉🎉♥️ super quick, which we’re so pleased about! However, I’m worried about injecting...I’m sure once I’ve done it the first couple of times, I’ll be okay but does anyone have any tips on how to make it less painful? Am not good with injections and hubby can’t do them as he works early. Thanks all! Anyone else beginning treatment at the same time?

They’re not as bad as you think they’ll be. Use an ice-cube to numb the skin beforehand. It does really help! I do them myself, I prefer being in control 😬. My husband bought me a metallic stainless steel ice cube that goes in the freezer. It does the trick! Good luck xx
Aww Hun its not bad at all . Like other lady said try an ice cube to numb area but do also try just getting a fatty bit of your tummy between your fingers and inject straight away 👍 Sometimes it will sting but it's nothing bad . Doesn't hurt at all . Good luck with your journey too .
Hi Rachwithers - I used a bag of peas before & after to numb the area! I also had a box of treats that worked as a great incentive, haha (mostly dark chocolate!). Good luck hun! x
The beat thing ive done was to record the nurse while she was showing me how to do the injections. I’ve down a couple injections while watching that clip repeatedly and it help lots! It didn’t hurt and didn’t bruise ! Only once I forgotten to let the air out and I injected it in my belly that was fun. Also I found doing injection in my belly while sitting down easier.
It depends on you clinic. My nurse showed me during the appointment. She explained everything slowly while she was doing it. It helped me a lot. But I don’t know if that happens to everyone...
Hi, once you have done the first one they are really not too bad! A neighbour who is a nurse told me to pinch the skin hard- really helps and someone on here said to count to 3 and then go- that really helped me! Wishing you all the luck xx
Exciting news Rach. Make sure you go in at a 90 degree angle. I don't numb the skin and I find it ok. Don't be alarmed if the area is a bit red and itchy afterwards or you get a little lump. It is normal and goes after a few minutes. Good luck xx
Hi rach how are you? We've just finished our first round I was shitting it about the injections before I started but honestly they are totally fine. I squeezed the area then jab. Some people put some ice on it first. Once you've done the first ones you will be totally fine xxx
Hiya were good. Unfortunately the cycle failed but we are going to try again later on in the year. The first cycle was no problem. The physical side is a walk in the park. The emotional and mental side is really difficult. Make sure u and the other half talk xxx u need that bond to keep u going xxx
If you look closely at the needles you'll see they have a little slanted end so pinch the inch, and go in at an angle with the point of the needle. I used to find giving it a little twist helped it slide in. Good luck, you get better with practice!!xx
Hubby doing them would be ideal but he leaves for work at half five and I don’t fancy being jabbed while I’m asleep 😂thanks I’m sure there’ll be LOTS of questions from me 😬😳😂 xx
Hi there, I will be starting third round around the same time. My other 2 rounds I did exactly what the ladies above have suggested. I used an ice pack and felt it made a difference. Pinch the area tightly and then release slowly as you injecting. I am petrified of needles but its really not bad at all. Your tummy will probably bruise a bit so dont be alarmed. After diing 2 or 3 you will be completely fine. 💪💪💪
Hi Rach, great news you’re getting started soon. You’ll be absolutely grand with the injections. I agree with the other ladies, sit down when you’re doing them and an ice cube def helps to numb the skin but after a while I didn’t bother. I did the injections myself as i found it was quicker and less painful. Wishing you lots of luck xx
