Can anyone tell me what a normal progesterone level is for someone from a day 21 bloodtest? Also what unit you're measuring in?
Mine was 0.49ug/l, but from what I can find online, that's staggeringly low! I can convert to nmol/l etc, so could someone let me know what is considered a normal range?

Hi Hun. I was told by my ex fertility clinic that they liked to see progestrone level 40 nmol/l or more to clarify ovulation had occurred. But it's it's only a snap shot as you may not ovulate every month. Hope this info is helpful. The internet can be some what misleading as we are all individual , best to leave it up to the experts in the field , I know I've done it many times and scared myself,it's never worth it X
Thanks for that! In nmol/l, I am 0.027. My consultation was over the phone and I wasn't sure if she said it was low or very low, so now I can see it's very low.
As long as your fallipon tubes are clear your consultant will probably prescribe clomid which will help introduce ovulation regularly. You would be monitored via regular scans and blood tests. The Max you can be on clomid is 6 months, after that it would be a referral for ivf. When are you next seeing your consulant? Do you have anymore tests/investigations to do? Good luck with it all. I hope you get the answers you need right now and can make progress towards having your baby Xxx
I'm not TTC at the moment. I did an egg donation in March and had to take Provera for three days because it was long protocol and during that time I had no anxiety or depression, or migraines. So I paid a hormone clinic for private blood tests for progesterone defiency, but because my doctor called from South Africa and I am partially dead and have an ear infection, I couldn't hear her verdict!
I have had miscarriages before so I'm hoping the progesterone prescription will stop that happening again.
Thank you for always being so kind and helpful, I'm sorry that you have got so knowledgable about al this xx
Hi Alicat1982. I was always taught that a normal Day 21 progesterone reading should be over 30nmol/l to prove that you have ovulated that month. However, I noticed that your reading was done in ug/l and I’m afraid I do not know the normal level in that measurement. It could be normal – you will have to ask. Diane
Hi. I thought it was, but thought you had better check the reference values first. Looks like you will be needing some treatment to get you ovulating again. I do wish you well with whatever is decided. Diane
Hi. My level was also really low at day 21, but that's because I didn't ovulate until day 22. It may be you ovulated late that month. Day 21 is what the doctors pick, but all our cycles are different lengths and this makes a huge difference. If your cycle was very long on the month you tested, the timing was probably just wrong.
I asked my doctor how many days after ovulation the test should be as I know when I ovulate, but she didn't know.
