Blocked tube

Hi all. Just had a dye put through and I have one blocked tube. Also have a polyp which I am having removed via BUPA in a few weeks. Can anyone tell me what they do with a blocked tube. Will they operate or just be referred straight to ivf?

I'm so worried can't stop crying x

Hi there kc21,

Sorry to hear some issues have arose which need sorting to enable you to continue with trying for a baby.

It depends on the extent of the blocked tube and if both of them are blocked and if any other factors are in play ie kink in tube, not ovulating etc. I believe that if they think it will work and be beneficial you can have an op which clears the tubes. This is only temporary and they generally say you have about 6 months to try conceive naturally after it has been cleared. As they will block up again. So hopefully it wont be a straight referal for you to IVF. Have you a contact number to ask whether yours are going to be cleared and if so if this is going to be done same time as removing the polyp? May give you some answers.

Best of luck x x

Thank you for replying x it's only one tube. My gp said once they have results they will contact me. Basically the polyp was found separately and I was luckily referred via BUPA so I can get that done straight away anyway which I will .. i just wondered what the procedure was fpr blocked tube or whether it's a straight referral xxxx

Not that having a blocked tube is nice to have or hear that you have, but I'm glad it isn't both.

I would imagine it would be a referal by GP to a gynaecologist who would then decide what to do.

It may also depend on how long you have been trying to conceive whether they leave it for a bit as you have one good tube. But I am not 100% sure about this. If they did this then they may do further infertility tests if been trying for some time ie sperm test, ovulation tests, bloodworks.

Wishing you all the best for your polyp removal and further treatment for the blocked tube and conceiving x

Hi kc21 . I had both tube block . They open and repair my left one and they removed the right tube because was effective the good one. After op doctor didn't say straight to way I need to go thru IVF ....she say we can try natural special after opi had scan if the good tube didn't block again... No it wasn't is good πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ Well after 3month "trying "....natural way and with us next visit doctor say that gonna be kwiker and more chances to get pregnant with IVF special that my hubby is fine and is not worry about me at all .., We when thru ICSI in March ...unsuccessful was for us this first cycle πŸ˜” But u don't need to worry if is only one of your tube block ... U go so much chances to get pregnant naturally ... They will probably do Laparoscopy to try fixed....open or repair...u may have back both tubes working us they should πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ Keep positive Hun u gonna be fine .,,. πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

Well I had two scans before Laparoscopy just because doctor was thinking that they might remove the left and repair right one .... But my doctor promise me that he is going to do everything to try safe them both... Operation I had in December....was over 2h .... My great doctor done everything he could....but he say that he finally remove the right one because was effective the left one what he open and repair.... Normally operation is around 45 min and if u gonna be fine they might let u go home later in day or evening. My op was longer then usual and they keep me in hospital for 3 days because take me much harder and longer to wake up after anaesthetic and my blood pressure was 98/53 very low πŸ˜” . After home take me around 4 to 5 days to walk normal us before....(well I'm very stubborn person I was pushing my self to do more then I should)... But when I went back home after op I start taking folic acid every day for next 3months which my doctor told me that great I done it . My only one tube is good which is good thing ....is the thought I got 50% chances to get pregnant then woman with two healthy one. But that me Hun that good news u have one healthy tube ...keep taking folic acid ...don't worry u gonna be just fine πŸ˜ƒ If u had a scan they might tell u that they going to do Laparoscopy. After my laparoscopy I was out early in evening. Take me kwiker to get better... If they going to do you laparoscopy is only to be sure 100% that what it is with your block tube . After they going to send the report to your doctor and then he is going to decide what to do. How long u trying for baby ? Do u know if your hormones level are good did u talk about that with your doctor?

Ok thank u x all my other tests r fine and my other half is fine. I have a small polyp being removed in a few weeks then it's just the tube to think about. I wasn't sure whether to push to go straight for ivf as been trying for 18 months now ... she was going down the road but u have these tests first so not sure what the procedure was xxxxx
