Cyclogest

After we have had BFP, we have been told to continue with cyclogest until 12 weeks pregnant as this helps strengthen the womb but I wonder if we can have sex or not. I know we couldn't whilst going through the treatment but can we now? I do mine at 7am and 7pm so also wonder how long they take to dissolve.

Hi LRH001. Yes, the Cyclogest contains progesterone to help “top up” your own natural supply. This helps to keep the lining of your womb nice and thick to help with implantation and the ongoing pregnancy. Your own body should “kick in” and supply your own progesterone almost immediately, but most clinics still encourage you to carry on with a supplement for up to 12 weeks of pregnancy. Yes, you can have sex, but don’t go too mad for a few weeks. Once the Cyclogest is inserted, the drug is absorbed in 20-30 minutes, so what leaks out is just the substance to shape it into a pessary. Hope all continues to go well for you both. Diane
