Spotting with Cyclogest

Hi everyone

I’m currently on day 10 post 3day transfer (IVF). I’ve been taking Cyclogest 400mg for the past 13 days (vaginally). Last two days i’ve been experiencing lightheadedness. Today, i’ve got a headache and i’m spotting (very light pink on tissue only). Is this normal?

Should I change to inserting through the back passage instead?

I have been naughty and have tested last few days - all have been positive so far so seeing apotting today was a massive shock / worry.

The cylogest can cause the irritation that can then cause the bleeding. Finders crossed it all works out well for you. Maybe try inserting via the back passage to see if things settle

Hey i just was writing to another poster that i started spotting at 8dp5dt. Im on 2 pessaries cyclogest and take it from the other passage. So you can try that to rule it out. Its the cramps that worry me more xx

Yes i’ve had very mild cramps since taking them too - makes you think that AF is on its way any second. Does not help with the TWW anxiety does it xx

Hello, so sorry to hear this, it’s so worrying isn’t it. I had exactly the same thing last night and this morning (I’m 10dpt3dt). I spoke to my clinic who advised me to take an extra pessary at lunchtime today (I usually take two 400mg a day, one in the morning and one in the evening.) So far I seemed to be okay so far. The nurse I spoke to said not to worry and that this can happen. Great you got a positive test! Sending hugs. xx

I was told specifically to insert it up the back passage, not vaginally. Perhaps give it a go?

I’ve been getting migraines on it too but they aren’t everyday which is a relief.

Good luck, I was also told that spotting is normal and fine at this stage so not to worry. If it’s heavy then contact your nurse?

I had a lot of spotting when I was using the cyclogest vaginally. I was advised to use the back passage or at the very least alternate between the two. I did it solely through the back passage after that. I did continue having spotting for a couple more weeks or so after that though before it stopped. I'm currently 14 weeks. Wishing you luck.

Congratulations ❤️ I will try alternating first as the clinic said they do prefer vaginally. Keeping everything crossed now for OTD on Saturday x

Yup alternate between the back and front. Its so gross! You think the injections are bad then you gotta do this for weeks. We really are all warriors!

I had spotting from Cyclogest and bloating ,tender boobs and an upset stomach. Those things are nasty!

I also had terrible cramps from embryo transfer till about 14 weeks. I kept forgetting I was pregnant as I kept thinking I was about to get AF. Every period symptom can be a pregnancy symptom! Again life is so cruel.

Try to relax (which I know is impossible) but if you've got a positive test then this is a great sign. When is your blood test booked for? If you need some extra comfort buy some digital tests and watch the weeks go up. That way you can track that your hormone levels are increasing.

Wishing you lots of luck with the coming days. Hopefully you have a boring and normal pregnancy. Xx

Honestly the stims were a breeze for me, but these pessaries are horrible. I’ve had minor signs of a UTI too - again I’m sure its due to the mess they make!!

The spotting stopped the next day thankfully, I carried on alternating for 3 days. Went back to the “normal” way and had another day of spottig. At least I know what to do now and the cause for it.

Yes I did a digital test on OTD on Saturday and it said 2-3 🤩 did it again yesterday and it had gone up to 3+ 🤩🤩

Thanks again xx

Yay! Bloody congrats. 2021 babies! Now you have to learn to smile when people make covid lockdown comments. Like all we needed was a global pandemic to get pregnant! Wishing you happy and healthy pregnancy! Xx
