I'm starting my ICSI next week on a short protocol and need advice on what to expect, are you sedated for EC? How long do I need off work? I'm really nervous and worried?

Thank you

Hi ive just had icsi ivf on long protocol.. you will need to attend appointments for to be shown how to adminster your meds, scans, egg collection and egg transfer so ypu will need time off work I asked for the earliest morning apts so I could go back into work after scan and medication apt. I took a full day off for egg collection and 2 days off for egg transfer. You will be sedated for egg collection you wont be aware of anything so dont worry. Our icsi was due to my partners low sperm count and it was successful for us were just waiting for our 1st scan.. so good luck to you have a look through my previous posts x

I had short prottocol icsi, it's really rather quick, with drugs only taken for two weeks prior to egg collection. Scans re normally early in the morning. I would take time off for egg collection/transfer - you may be able to get sick leave for this. also consider your work/rest strategy for the two week wait, do what you can to minimise your workload.

Good luck

Thanks for the replies. I'm really confused as I've had my drugs delivered today and have lots of tablets, rung the clinic to arrange the injection demonstration and they said I'll take tablets up until day 18 then inject? I never discussed this with my doctor, is that the correct process for a short protocol?
